Lincoln Green Sweater

Remember this post about making my husband a sweater?  Well I have started one!  It is a top down vee neck raglan design with Ella Rae Classic Heather in this fantastic green.  I am designing it based on this pattern .

I measured one of his favorite sweaters and am using those measurements for the design of this raglan.  I am figuring that since he can try it on as I knit, I can be very accurate in the fit.  So far my plan is stockinette for the body but I might change my mind.  Once the raglan increases are done and I join the body I can think of what I want to do with stitch designs.

For some reason I am loving heathered yarns this season.  Have you been attracted to a specific yarn quality since fall has started?

  1. He's going to LOVE it!!! I'll often reach for the heathers, too; I think they can make a plain knit just look more classy (although that may have come from memories of knitting years ago when there weren't so many wonderful color choices!!!)

  5. The colour is absolutely stunning - it'll be so lovely to have made a sweater for your loved one... so far I'm only brave enough to do it for the under 5's because they don't seem to mind if I make a mess of them!

  10. That is such nice yarn to use. It looks like a great color for a man's sweater too- I always have trouble finding a color that is hubby approved!

  11. I love heathers too (although I really don't have many yarns like that at the moment). I think it's the variegated look and texture and depth that the 'heathering' gives it. The color is very appealing too. I haven't done a husband sweater yet. Still have to finish mine that's been stuck in a rut. Yarns I like recently? I find myself drawn more to wines & burgundy and plum and rust...

  13. I'm going to have to get busy before I can say I have a seasonal preference. Your yarn is beautiful. O.K., it's my favorite this season... call me lazy.

  14. I'm also loving heathered yarns this fall. I don't have any, and probably won't be able to buy any soon, but every time I see one I think of the possibilities. I can't wait to see your design come along as you knit it!

  16. Oooo...such a pretty colour - one of my favorites. I haven't been into a yarn shop yet this new season, so haven't had a chance to be drawn in by any. But it's only a matter of time :-)
