Yarn Along

My knitting this week has been quite productive.  I finished a mystery knit which I cannot post a photo as of yet. However, in the above photo is the very LAST cowl for a Christmas gift to my extended family.  So the only people I have left to knit for (if I want) is my husband and two children......easy peasy!!  The above cowl is the same pattern as the others.  I only casted on 120 stitches instead of the 200 stitches since I only have one skein of yarn.

I finished my featherweight cardigan and posted about it here and my ravelry page has the details.  I am thrilled that it is off the needles :)  I love tiny needle knitting but a much needed break is in my future.

For reading I picked up this book at the bookstore about a month ago.  I chose it because of the cover....I hope the story it holds is as good as the cover art.  I just started reading last night so I have no opinions at this time.  The title is The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane.

All the snow that fell over the weekend has melted.  I thoroughly enjoyed the snow and as much as I wish it would stay, it is kind of nice to go back to fall weather.  We have gone back to our after dinner walks with Frodo.  Once the time changes next week, I do not know how that is going to work out. We eat dinner earlier than most people so I am hopeful our walks continue.

  2. Karen, I would love to see your stash! You always have the prettiest yarns. I am glad to hear I am not the only one to buy a book just for the cover ;)!

  5. Love the color for the cowl!!

We obviously like the same kind of book--I loved the Physick Book of Deliverance Dane; hope you do too!

Are you 5/5:30 eaters like we are??? That daylight saving time won't keep Freddy from INSISTING on his after dinner stroll (frantic romp!!!).

  6. So busy are your fingers. I can't get over how much you knit and so quickly! ?: do you just make something and give it or ask what the recipient wants and then make it? I'd love to knit for everyone this year, but I don't think some would appreciate it. Dilemma...

  8. I'm glad I'm not the only one who picks books based on the cover ;)

After the featherweight cardigan, I was half expecting this post to be about something knit in super chunky yarn! Love the colour you're using for the cowl.

  11. That snow was pretty fun! I hope you guys didn't loose power though. We didn't, but everyone we know did.

I love the color you've chosen for your last cowl. That's one of my favorite colors and one I keep coming back to again and again.

Just reading your blog mkaes me feel more productive, and I'm doing very little Christmas knitting this year. Can't wait to see the secret project.

I'll second most everyone else and tell you how much I love the color you've chosen for that cowl.

  14. We have had snow THREE times already and it seems like we have plunged right into winter. I only like to walk outside if it is above freezing. I also am attracted to books by their cover. Hope this one is a good one for you. Thanks for the link to the cowl. I saved it as a 'favorite' on Ravelry.

  15. I'm so impressed with your Christmas knitting accomplishments. I've been thinking about mine for ages...thinking, not knitting. I love that cowl pattern!

  17. Mom and I were reading up on you and she got quite excited when she saw the book you're reading. She has heard great things about it, but hasn't read it just yet. I guess we'll add this to our reading list, too! :)

Hooray for being done with "required" knitting. Now you have plenty of time to just fun knit! :)

I love the color you are using right now. It's a sophisticated pink!

  19. Wow--you are such a productive knitter! I can't wait to see the mystery knit (who doesn't love a mystery?). The cowl you are making now is a scrumptious color--dare I say it?--a bit like a "Pumpkin Sunrise" :-)

I read that book last summer. I'm going to let you form your own opinion ;-)

  20. I love the cowl. I am making a bunch of cowls this Christmas but so far only have 2 finished. I wish I was as done as you : )

  21. I really like knitting with tiny needles too - ironic given how much trouble I have with knitting in general. But, from now on I'm just going to say that "Karen says it's the WORDS getting in the way of my knitting, not my own incompetence!" ;-) xoxo

  23. I like that cowl, but I am not sure I could handle all the seed stitch! I have been making gifts here and there too. Just fun! The featherweight cardigan is on my list too. I almost made it this summer, but decided I better work though my stash sweater amounts first.
