Wishing You

I am ready for the festivities to begin!  Did I finish my knitting goals for Christmas?  Yep.  Am I wrapped?  Yep.  Did I finish the baking?  Not really.  Baking is not my absolute favorite part of the holidays.  It just makes me eat more sugar than I really need to eat.

As you know, we celebrated Christmas with my husband's parents in October and then my family during the Thanksgiving break.  That just leaves the four of us during the Christmas break.  I kind of like it.  We have lived away from extended family since our marriage (gasp! 25 years this year).  The Christmas break is filled with watching holiday movies, video game playing, walking Frodo and lots of reading.  Sometimes we venture out and do a bit of shopping.  It really is the only time during the year that we are all together.  I am sure in the near future the kids will be on their own and new traditions will begin.

I hope that you all have a wonderful holiday season filled with family, friends, laughter and good health. See you all next week, Merry Christmas!!  -Karen

  1. To me it sounds like a wonderful week. I was just telling my husband I like starting things with just our family and not stressing or worrying about others. It makes for a nice time. I am hoping when my children grew they still want to be home because it is a nice place to be. Merry Christmas, Karen.

  2. Karen, sounds like our family when the kids where growing up! We lived far away from family and it was too stressful to go home and cope with two families living very near to each other. Our holidays had the same peaceful rhythm. Rosemary and Keith are coming up from the Burgh for Christmas this year. I am looking forward to it! God bless you Karen and your family with his grace for a peaceful Christmas and New Year!

  7. Oh that sounds so relaxing!!!! We're in the midst of a whirlwind 48 hours of visiting my son and his family ( 5 kiddos) and brought our daughter and her two boys with us. Mayhem reigns! We're all exhausted , slightly grumpy and trying real hard not to show it, Nd really looking forward to our 5 hour drive home tomorrow!!!! Crazy. We love to come. We love to go back home.

  9. Your holiday plans sound lovely--and just like mine :-). We've lived away from extended family for the last 16 years (we've been married for 23 years). I've gotten used to our quiet holidays, and in fact, have come to prefer them.

Have a wonderful Christmas at home with your family!
