Yarn Along

This week for the Yarn Along I have been knitting up a storm on a project I am unable to speak about because it's a secret.  So the gray project in the photo is all I can say about it.  Yep, it's gray and it's a secret.  Now I am thrilled to announce that I finished my husband's sweater over the weekend!!  He has already worn it once and because it's 100% wool and it is not cold out, he had to take it off.  I told him it could be a coat if one wanted a warm garment.  I am still working on the Ridge cowl.  I love this project because the yarn is heavenly to hold - so so so soft!!

For reading this week, I chose A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.  I have read this many times and I still enjoy Scrooge's transformation.  You know, the Grinch has a similar transformation only his heart grows bigger.  Scrooge just gets to see what a crummy guy he has been.  Everyone should contemplate their past, present, and future (without the scary ghosts!).  I am on the third ghost a.k.a. "phantom", so almost done with this little book.

  1. The sweater looks good...I love the colour and the cowl too...is that for you or him? (lucky guy)

Great seasonal reading choice too...I love Aruthur Rackahm illustrations, especially Alice in Wonderland...it takes me back to my childhood...

I agree with you about the contemplation thing Karen...especially at this time of year it's good to look back over the past year and hopefully be able to plan for the next one...

    Have a good day,
    Debx

  2. Yay, your husband's sweater looks awesome! Glad it's finished, and it sounds like it'll keep him nice and toasty when the weather is really cold :)

It's tough trying to blog with all these secret projects, isn't it?!

  6. It's a bit hard to do Yarn Along without being able to say what you're actually knitting, no? The sweater looks brilliant; one day in the far future I'll tackle a man-size one too.

  7. I LOVE secrets!!! Promise...I won't tell!!!! I've had my nose in kiddie lit (about the holiday season, too--love reading seasonal books in the season they are written about) so I can't possibly spoil the secret.

Ignore the above...Freddy got to the computer--and believe me, he'll tell. And yes, he got his nose into my book and dragged it around the house. FrEdDy!!!!!!

  8. I'm working on some secretive and semi-secretive gifts as well. I think many a yarn along posts will be somewhat lacking in the photo dept until after Christmas time. :)

  17. Great sweater. My man would so love me to knit him one but he's a big guy and I have limited finances, and time lol.
Love the book choice - Scrooge the musical is currently showing in a theatre near us. Would love to go see it again but as before, money is the key.

  18. I've sincerely had a love affair with Scrooge for twenty plus years. One of my favorite holiday reads! Every year I make the "Ghost of Christmas Past" cookies...I really ought to buy cookie cutters. All I have is a Halloween ghost, but we make do!

  23. Despite my great love of Charles Dickens I've only just for the first time picked up A Christmas Carol to read. I'm looking forward to getting into it.

Hooray for a completed sweater! We need a man sweater around here. ;)
