Yarn Along

While I was visiting my sister and being bombarded by delicious yarn at the knit and crochet show, I was on the look out for some DK weight wool.  I tried very hard to be open minded on color and dyeing technique.  I tend to be so specific of what I want in a yarn that I never find it.  Above is the yarn that I discovered and immediately when we got back to my sister's house I nagged her to help ball it up with her winder and swift.  I am making the wurm hat for me!  The yarn is wonderful and it is made by cosymakes.  It is quite soft and the color is beautiful!

I also have on my needles the never ending periwinkle shawl that should be done next week.  At least I hope it will be done.  My sweater has been woefully neglected this whole week.

Rebecca continues to adorn my nightstand and has entertained me overall.  I do not think I am loving it as much as I did when I read it as a teenager.  I think because the husband, Maxim, can be quite insensitive at times.  Funny, I love Wuthering Heights and Heathcliff is a psycho (as is Catherine) and still I love that book!  So maybe I'm being critical of Maxim?  I received the new issue of Interweave Knits.  I did a quick flip through and nothing caught my eye.  I usually do not get interested in spring knitting until spring arrives.

  1. Fab colour yarn, and great pattern choice :)

I think the difference with Wuthering Heights is that both Healthcliff AND Catherine are crazy and unlikeable, so you don't end up disliking one more than the other.

  2. That spring coloured green yarn is gorgeous........Wuthering Heights is one of my all time favourite reads, like you I read Rebbeca when quite young too, but it never stirred the passions as Heathcliffe and Catherine did. x

I am glad to see that magazine in your photo. I have a free copy coming to see if I like it because you know knitter's need to stay informed, even lousy ones like me! :)

  6. Gosh, I wish I could be specific when it comes to yarn choice. I just end up loving everything and am unable to decide! And of course buy far more than I need...

  7. The yarn is a beautiful colour and what an interesting looking pattern. i remember my elder daughter enjoying Rebecca but I never got into it - or WH - both too dark for me. xx

  13. My two older ones just finished Wuthering Heights and loved it because they hated so many of the characters! The color of the Wurm reminds me of avocados! Yummy.

  15. Loving that color and pattern. I swear you knit so quickly; I think you are making strides on the shawl. "Heathcliff is a psycho." Hee hee, I need to reread that book. There was all kinds of cray cray going on in that book.

  16. I love your DK, the green is so soft, yet bright and cheery!
Catherine and Heathcliff ARE psycho (that's a good way to put it) but they BOTH are, so it's as if they deserve each other, and you just stop caring. It's like a train wreck...I love it!

  17. I ended up giving up my subscription to IK a year or two ago...just wasn't doing anything for me anymore and never felt compelled to knit any of the patterns :( Can't wait to see your Wurm hat!

PS: yes, H+C are both a bit *ahem* special but there is something about Wuthering Heights that I enjoy and can read over and over. Not sure what that might say about me :(

  18. so funny, i feel the same about ik, i stopped my subscription also, i think it had to do with ravelry too though! love the green!

  20. I subscribed to Interweave a few weeks ago and haven't received my spring issue yet ... apparently I have bad luck with subscriptions. :( I'll have to shoot them an email or something ...

Loving the green ... makes me think of spring. :)

  21. Yeah, I've personally always thought that "Wuthering Heights" was meant as a warning about what will happen if you allow passion to run untamed by reason.

  22. My mother in law got me that magazine and I was so excited that she got me something to do with yarn but unfortunately I didn't really see anything in it to catch my attention. Your yarn is wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

  23. What a fun color for your hat! I know what you mean about Rebecca. I adore the movie and think that the changes they made for the film made it a better story. I did enjoy reading the book and seeing how it differed. It is a somewhat bleaker story in the novel!

  24. The newest IK didn't grab me either. Perhaps in a few months time it will. The last few have been a bit flat for me. Love that green, and her yarns seem so happy. Glad you were able to start right away.

  29. That's a great color for a hat called "wurm". ;)

No, not fair! The new Interweave magazine?? Mom has hers and has been teasing me about it.

  30. Ha! I was just doing a hat search on Ravelry and picked out the Wurm for my next project. Great minds, huh? ;) Love the green....ready for spring!

  31. I got my IK the other day, too. I scanned it really quick. There were some interesting projects in their but, being a plus-size gal, not many that I would be able to knit in my size. Oh well. There's always the sock pattern. ;-)
