Pixie Dust Socks and a Ramble

Last night I finished the socks that I worked on in the car on Saturday.  How appropriate that I finished them on my daughter's birthday!  I know she will love them.  They are brightly colored and there is sparkle. For some reason the colorway reminds me of Nemo from Finding Nemo....I think it's the orange and black placed together.  I love that movie :)

I have been into making smoothies!  Who knew that they were super easy to make?  Even my husband is enjoying the tasty treat.  I've been using almond milk, frozen peaches, strawberries, a banana and because of the sweet tooth, some honey to take the tartness away.....mmmm.  Delicious!

Yesterday it rained all day, thank goodness it did not snow-I was not in the mood for it.  I love winter weather but to be honest I've been enjoying the mild temperatures, the walks and yep, no snow on the ground.  Flakes can fall down from the sky seven months from now.

Finished any projects yet?  What do you put into a smoothie? ( I might steal your ideas)

  1. I make smoothies everyday and love them...
I use blueberries, strawberries, a mango,
2 T. hemp seeds, a little coconut oil and a
little raw honey. Depending on my mood, I will add some Greek yogurt if I am 'doing' dairy at the time.
I love the Nemo socks and bet your daughter is just tickled to get them.

  4. I love smoothies but had never made them before. Over the weekend I bought a whole bunch of fresh fruit and freezed it. Yesterday I made my first smoothie. I put in half a banana; a handful of strawberries; a small container of greek yogurt with honey; a splash of milk and some protein powder. I should have added more then a splash of milk because I needed a spoon to "drink" it but it was so yummy! I can't wait to try other fruits. It's so easy and yummy!

  5. we've tried all sorts but always fall back on banana/strawberry/blueberry/orange juice. we stay away from yogurt because of Em's lactose intolerance, but i've been known to through some soft tofu in there for protein, there's no taste.

i love them and you are right, they are so easy.

thanks for all your kind wishes!!

the socks are awesome, i'm sure she'll love them.

  6. When I was into making smoothies all.the.time (lol), I used to throw blueberries in there, and sometimes ground-up flax seed, for added fiber (you can tell you're getting "old" when you start worrying about fiber). The socks are so pretty and sparkly!

  8. Those socks are too cute. I love the color combo. I signed up nearly 6 months ago for a knitting class, I have yet to go (babysitter situation) but I cannot wait until I begin my knitting journey. Your talent is definitely inspiring!

  9. The socks are awesome! I've been trying baby socks...not going so well. I think because the are too small. I am a blueberry/banana/strawberry combo kind of girl. I'm like Tracey, I'll add yogurt if I need the dairy. My mom is big into juicing. Might have to try it...not sure about it yet.

  12. What a serendipitous finish. I can see the Nemo tie-in definitely. I love smoothies. I really like green smoothies which include spinach, frozen tropical fruit or strawberries, a banana and protein powder sometimes. The frozen fruit I buy at Costco as well as a big box of organic spinach. The kids eat them too.

  13. pretty socks! and yes, i can see the nemo thing ;-)

smoothies. we do lots of them. we can't do almond milk because of a nut allergy so depending upon the smoothie, i use kefir or a splash of orange juice. the orange juice usually goes for the green smoothies: kale or spinach, some ground flaxseed, a banana, some frozen berries. the kids prefer their smoothies with some of my homemade kefir, a banana, frozen berries, and a bit of honey.

  15. i put anything i have around in my smoothie. apples and pears more than bananas, because i find the banana taste very overpowering. a few berries if i have them (in summmer), a kiwi, a bit of orange or lemon. have you tried basil? it's lovely, i made it once last year! and spinach!

  16. This morning I put in a banana, frozen berries, and frozen chopped spinach. We call it "blueberry juice" and the boys LOVE it ;-) I made some extra today and filled the popcicle molds too so we can have yummy icees tomorrow. I'd like to get more interesting in my smoothies but the fresh fruit tends to get eatten up!

I love the socks! And they remind me of Nemo too.

My kids love smoothies for a snack. We use Greek Yogurt, blueberries, bananas and a little ice and honey. We tried a mixed berry one the other day... blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries... note to self: too many seeds!!

  20. I just read on Randi's site (i have to say)that she made smoothies with mango, banana and yogurt. Then, I promptly went to Costco and bought a whole bunch of mangoes. I even have a juicer, but it's never seen the light of day. Guess I should pull it out.

Cute socks. Great name for them!
