Yarn Along

Last night while I was trying to sleep, which lately is almost every night, I was thinking about two things.  My first thought is how I will never eat cheese again (lactose intolerant).  I always have this resolution when I am NOT eating.  I think for today I am writing it boldly where I can see it so I do not forget!  My second thought is my yarn along post!!  Yep at 1-2 a.m. I am thinking of the my post.  I did fall asleep so I wonder does this post contain a drowsy factor?

I am reading The Lace Reader and it's a different kind of book.  I can say I am unsure of what is exactly going on, the narrator starts the story by declaring herself a liar.  Well now, I just do not know what is reality or fiction.  I love it!  The unpredictability of the narration has me eagerly reading and page turning.

The ball of yarn to the left is the beginnings of a featherweight cardigan.  I know I swore I would not make another one, but I thought a summer one was in order.  This yarn is Claudia's hand painted silk lace and it is extremely soft and oh so lovely.  It's been in my stash for quite a while.

My other knitting project is another baby cardigan for one of my husband's racquetball friends who is having a baby any day now for the past two weeks.  Men.  I bet that baby was already born.  They are having another boy so I chose some light blue cotton from my stash.  I am doing the old stand by pattern of Elizabeth Zimmermann   Not in the photo are the sparkly socks.  I just started the second sock!

I finished a sweater yesterday that I posted about here.  What are you reading and knitting?

  3. Oh, that featherweight cardigan is tempting me!! ;) When I was looking at Hannaah Fettig's pattern page (enabler), I saw her featherweight pattern... ah, the rabbit trails we travel in our knitting addiction. LOL! Can't wait to see this one progress!! The Lace Reader sounds intriguing. Have a great day. tanna

  4. Your yarns are beautiful! I can't wait to see what the cardigan looks like. Babies take their own sweet time--leaves you more time to knit for them :)

I'm always up thinking about things to blog about. Being up at all kinda of crazy hours with various little people it makes me feel a little productive when I'm up at 2:30 tucking someone back in.

  13. Oh my! Featherweight yarn. The effect will be lovely. Oh please do give your husband the benefit of doubt. All my babies were two weeks late. So I know the "any day now" scenario seeming to last a long time.

  14. Ooh...the yarn for your cardigan is lovely!! And you are so right about Men! I giggled when I read that sentence because I can totally relate! :)

  15. The yarn for the cardigan is beautiful! I just came across a few skeins of lace yarn yesterday and I want to make something with it (I have no idea when or why I bought it!). I've never knit with lace and the thinness of it makes me nervous. I'm thinking maybe a shawl or scarf or something. I should head to ravelry to look around!

  18. Looking forward to seeing your finished projects. I think the middle of the night is the best time to ponder on ideas. Remembering them in the morning is the hardest part. Jacinta

  20. The cardigan is going to be gorgeous! I love that yarn. Men! They are so good at that - Honey I need.....can't you just whip something up? What?!?! The sad part is I usually figure something out and accommodate him which makes me an enabler! Ugh!

  21. Lol - at least you have some information, and aren't suddenly confronted with the mother and baby who is well on the way to being a toddler and you didn't even know it was on the way! But your yarns are so lovely xxx

  22. oh yes, the lace reader does leave you guessing for a bit. i loved it though. the old house. the coast. it was right up my alley ;-)

hee hee...i was in my last trimester for the little bit when i heard the mr. on the phone with a friend. the friend must've asked how far along i was because i heard the mr. say, "we're already in our 4th month." i might've slapped him up the backside of his head for that one. and lucky baby to receive one of your ez sweaters...we LOVED ours :)

  36. since i am knitting failure i will comment on the cheese part of the post.

is it a lactose intolerance or a milk protein? Cabot's (go Cabot's) just came out with a lactose-free cheddar. I can only find it in one store around here but it's changed Emily's world around.

She was so happy when we found that and coconut milk ice cream!!!

  37. I cannot imagine a life without cheese. If I couldn't eat it anymore I would have to have a funeral for cheese just to say goodbye, watching all of my friends eat the yummy cheeses. I'm so sorry for your loss.
