Thrift Finds

The weekend that my sister and brother in law were visiting us, there was an afternoon that the guys went on their merry way and my sister and I went out and about the town. We passed a thrift store that begged us to stop in.  That's when I saw this glass box and left it on the shelf.  (why?  who knows!)  I browse faster than my sister and we parted ways. When we met again she had the glass box in her hands....in that moment I really wanted it.  I was also kicking myself for not picking it up first.

She said to me "don't you want this?  It's your style."..........Love her!  Now I can have the perfect-to-me green box and still love my sister for being so thoughtful.  I did find her a wooden shelf for her rubber stamp collection.  Why is it easier sometimes to find items for someone else?

So my question is, do you think this is an old refrigerator container?  Any ideas if it has an interesting past? There are no markings.  It's sitting now on my kitchen counter. Whether it's old or new, I'm keeping it!!

  2. we totally need a butter dish ( not sure about the correct name for it) so i'd use it for that. you could put anything in there that needs to be cooled but is supposed to be pretty on the table as soon as you take it out... like some berries or grapes?? otherwise no idea... it's a nice find, i'm sure you'll come up with something!

  3. I would say yes, it's an old fridge container, it's missing its lid, but still a great piece. I looked at a few pieces when I was in Savannah, they were going for no less than $35.00 a piece!

  4. not sure what it is, but if it does have a lid (does it?) it would be great to use instead of a tupperware type container. I love finding useful, different things that are glass to store food in.

....come link up on my site! I keep finding people doing thrifty thursday posts today but no links on my post. : (

  5. It's very cool and it does look like an old refrigerator container. My grandmother had some like this. I wish I knew where they got to.

  6. So pretty ~ wondering what you plan to use it for? Inquiring minds want to know! I think it would be a good butter dish or how about a specialty sea salt dish?

  14. Whatever it is - it's so pretty! I'm glad your thifting story had a happy ending. My sister and I haven't had any squabbles over our mutual love of thrifting - I always think it's that we don't share the same size. ;)
