Yarn Along

I am knitting the forever cardigan, desperately trying to get to the ribbing of the body. I work on the cardigan every day eagerly dreaming of how it will look when worn. I hope my dream comes true!  I thought today I would show you a tiny project I casted on this past week to break up my knitting monotony.  It is a hat and I have no idea who will one day wear it.  The yarn matches the cowl I made for my daughter.  The pattern is one that I've knit up before, I love it because it uses fingering weight yarn and I tend to knit with that weight.  I posted about the socks I'm knitting for my husband yesterday. Next week I will share with you how I do the heel flap and the gusset. Who knew socks could be so exciting?

I am reading The Weird Sisters which is turning out to be a very good read.  At first I was having trouble getting into the story.  Sometimes after a really compelling read I have difficulty immersing myself into a new novel.  I am happy to say that I am enjoying reading about three sisters who are not that weird, just sisters. Of course they have life problems and I'm guessing they will be resolved by the end of the book.

Last but not least, I had to put my rooster bowl in the photo, just because he makes me smile :)

  2. A fingering weight hat. Hmmm...I do have a lot of scraps, perhaps I will add that to the list. So true about starting a new book after finishing a good one. A bit hard.

  3. I may well go and look at the book. It sounds interesting. Keep going with your sweater; I'm looking forward to seeing it when finished!

  4. I love the orange yarn for the hat! I have that same problem sometimes if I read a book that I really connect with, it makes the next book a lot harder to get into. Usually when it happens I got back to one of my old favourites and reread that as cooling down period :)

  7. Love the color and the pattern for that hat. Kind of makes me long for fall...and it's only just summer! Funny how we gravitate towards different seasons as we(I) get older. Great links!

  8. Love your rooster bowl!

I think that turning the heel on socks is far more exciting than some may think. I love that part. I would turn heels non-stop if there were available socks (Mom is the complete opposite -- she gets too stressed at that point).

I so love that color you're using. I wish I could think of something to use it in for myself!

  13. I love the color you choose. The stitches are so delicate. I have developed quite a thing for fingering weight-I think it makes for perfect summer knitting. You book sounds interesting-stay cool and happy knitting

  14. The orange is pretty (and my favorite color)! I think it would make me crazy to only knit with fingering weight. I love bulky for a satisfyingly quick project occasionally. :)

  19. What is the yarn? It looks gorgeous with the orange and yellow. I don't think sisters are ever weird...just sisters, you know?

  21. I love knitting hats but I'll admit that I typically knit them in worsted weight as they go so fast then. Fingering? That's beyond my patience. As for your new book, I have two sisters and we're all weird! LOL.

  22. Hmmm....maybe I'll add that book to my summer reading list. Thanks for the recommendation, Karen!

  31. I'll gladly be a wearer of the hat! (HeeHee :) Love those warms. I haven't read a novel for a very long time. But I am one of three sisters myself, so maybe this is appropriate!

  33. A breaking-up-the-monotony project is a great idea. I especially love that it's possible to cure knitting boredom by knitting (something else). Third time I've run across that book this week -- I may have to cave in and pick it up!
