String of Days

It has been quite the rainy week but I really haven't minded.  Since our company departed I have cleaned the house and laundered the linens and everything is back to its regular way.  I have been cooking simpler meals after eating out almost every single day.  As delicious as it is to eat out, it is healthier to eat at home.

We walked Frodo last late in the afternoon yesterday and I noticed that the yellow leaves were floating down from the trees with each puff of wind.  It was quite nice, I've been very lax at carrying a camera around and I kind of like it. Sometimes it's nice to be in the moment.  Even though fall has arrived with the leaves changing, it has not been chilly the past few days.  Soon.  Soon it will be cold and dare I say frosty?

While I've been steadily making progress on my dad's socks, I've been thinking of what to knit next.  Shawls have been my focus while I do some preliminary searches.  But I haven't committed to a specific pattern yet.

I hope each of you have a lovely restful weekend.

  1. I keep thinking I need a week of rainy days to get housework done. Because that's how it used to be, when my babies were very, very small. (And before they were born.)
In reality, I would spend the entire week breaking up fights and kissing places where the one hit the other or pulled hair or whatever. I think I need to just accept the fact that my house is never again going to be clean all at once until they are both in college…
    Have a lovely weekend! xo

  2. I've just changed the beds and done a mountain of ironing and am having a cup of tea and ordering some yarn and having a quick read of some of my favourite blogs before cleaning the kitchen...It's amazing how much better we feel when things are in order.

I agree with you about the camera...I used to get annoyed with my husband either photographing or filming every second of our holidays...now the shoe seems to be on the other foot and I'm the one with the camera. Last weekend we went away for and I purposely left it at home...he kept asking me where it was...It's heavy to carry and like you I wanted to just enjoy the moment.

Good luck with the pattern search and have an awesome weekend.

  4. the linen-thing is on my to-do today......I've been lax since our company left a couple weeks ago, but the kids come next weekend.....it'll take me a week to steel myself for our little space to accommodate 7 more people!!!! so I might as well get ready soo!!! have a great weekend, Karen!!!! (Freddy went to a doggie park yesterday---he wished Frodo was there--he saw another schnauzer and thought of him!)

  5. It hasn't been cold here at all which makes me a little sad, although really I should know better, it is the south after all.
I have a knitting list that is way too long and I keep adding to it. I have been on the look out for a great poncho pattern, but haven't found just the right one yet.
I hope you have a great weekend.

  12. I love these autumn beginnings.. we had days of rain, but today is suddenly sunny! A good opportunity to throw the waterproofs in the wash for a chance to dry by Monday, and have a long (dry) walk!

  13. Agree about being free of the camera sometimes. It just feels nice! Rainy days aren't so bad this time of year....they make being inside feel even cozier :)
