Weekends

This weekend could have been a wee bit better!  I'm having "issues" with my body.  I sprained my right ankle twice in the past six weeks (yep uncoordinated) and the second time hurt enough for us to do a quick run to the ER this morning to check to see if it was broken, and it wasn't.  I'm having lots of nerve pain.  Lots.  So sometime this week I'm hoping to see my arthritis doctor who never ever fails to cure me.  Wish me luck!!

I've been wrapped in puzzles to whittle away my time and I snagged that new notebook that looks so much like my planner.  It's still empty of words.  I have such a difficult time making the first mark in a notebook.  Do you have that problem?  I keep looking at it and daydreaming what it could contain.

How was your weekend??

  2. Sorry to hear about your 'body issues', having pains is not fun. My back is killing me every morning but strangely behaves itself as the day wears on. I hope you will feel better soon. As for the new notebook - just go for it, whatever you feel like writing or drawing or whatever will be just right.

  3. Take it easy with the ankle. Ankle sprains are almost always feel like they take forever to heal, and I know that from experience. Good luck with your arthritis doctor.

  8. Oh no! Sorry to hear about your pain. Hoping the ankle heals and your physician can work some magic. I too have a tough time with that first page. I just bought a new notebook today. Hopefully it starts getting filled tomorrow. I think the best advice is to cast aside perfection and just write.

  9. My weekend was spent mostly at home because of the strong rain. It was spent mostly in bed because, well, it's cold haha! Anyway, your photo makes me want to answer some crossword puzzles for next weekend. I kind of miss it. :)

    I hope you're alright. Take care ;)

  15. So sorry to hear about your ankle and nerve issues! Hope your arthritis doctor proves to keep their record! And, yes, I also have a hard time putting my first, always less than beautiful, mark on a new notebook. {sigh} and, I see we are not alone... is it that birds of a feather flock together? blessings ~ tanna

  16. My thoughts are with you Karen! I hope that you heal quickly and find some answers/help for the nerve pain. At the very least it could be enforced knitting/reading time? Yesterday I found a way to combine both - was able to read my kindle while knitting a honey cowl (very easy and repetitive). I couldn't have been happier especially when I added a cup of tea and some dark chocolate raspberry gogi fruit thingys my daughter bought. I definitely suffer from the same new notebook affliction - especially if it is a nice one. Sometimes I like to draw a picture or design on the front page with colored pencils "to break the ice". That way i don't have to feel like my first words need be so important.Take care of yourself and treat yourself nice. Chris

  17. ouch!!! get better soon!!! fingers are crossed that doc comes through quickly for you!!!!

yes, those 'pristine' journals are so hard to start...I only do vacation journals, but I have that same feeling of not wanting to mess it up when i begin!! two pages in, though----and it's a total free for all!! drawings, notes in the margins, tickets stuck on!!!

is that a pen you are using for your crossword puzzle??? (I always use a pen, too--but sometimes by the end of the puzzle (if I get that far!!) i'm the only one who can see the letters for so many cross outs!!!!)

  18. I'm so sorry your body isn't cooperating with you… I hope you are feeling better, too.
I also have trouble making that first mark in a journal. It's so nice and unspoiled and lovely before I write; I don't want to mess it up! (I have a binder with the same pattern that I use for my organizer…) xo

  19. Hope you are feeling better soon. And yes - I have that same problem with notebooks. I have so many blank ones. It's like I'm waiting for the perfect words to write. And sometimes they don't ever come to me.

  20. Oh, feel better! I twisted both knees last winter, so I very much feel your pain. The doctor will help with the pain, I'm sure. In the meantime try to stay comfortable and off your ankle!
Journals ~ now there's a challenge. Those first few pages especially. Pen, pencil, black, blue, colored...endless decisions. I, of course, have perfected the art of agonizing in this particular arena. Best bet...dive right in. But skip the first page...that way you will always have a nice, white page in your book :) Sending healing thoughts and prayers your way!

  24. Sorry to hear about your ankle, and glad it isn't broken. I think I might have arthritis, I have been having a lot of trouble with one leg for months, putting off going to the doctor.

I have lots of blank notebooks too, and know exactly what you mean!
