Weekends

That my friends is a very bare empty coffee table!!!  As you may recall my daughter was briefly home for two weeks during the semester break but my son has been home for six long weeks.  Six weeks of neat piles of books and papers.  Funny when they are my piles I think they look fine :)

So today my husband whisked him back to his campus while I went to church and prayed for an ankle miracle.  Seriously though, I am seeing improvement and the pain is tolerable but I wanted it to be better yesterday.  I am an impatient sort.

Yesterday while knitting my first sleeve I came to the realization that I would not have enough yarn. So I ripped it all out.  I rejiggered the pattern so hopefully the sleeve will be long enough.  I'm optimistic and enjoying the challenge.

Laundry is nearly done, the kitchen is clean and a cup of hot green decaf tea is waiting for me.

How was your weekend?

  1. I LOVE when they come.....I love when they leave to live their lives in their own space. I sure hope that doesn't make me an awful mom.

  5. Karen, you and I are so much alike in so many ways! I really had a good laugh when you talked about thinking your piles looked fine while others do not, I thought the exact same thought this morning. Knitting books and wool with needles make a home a home, a stack of farming magazines on my table does not ;)
I do hope that ankle of yours is better soon. Have you tried rubbing Blue Emu on it? I love the stuff, especially as I get older and need it more.

  6. Funny, hubby and I also always feel that our own piles are just fine but the other's pile is the total eye-sore :)
Hope your ankle will be much better soon!

  7. I am laughing at that too! I do not have piles, and if I ddo they are 'styled' - my husband leaves piles though ;)
I will pray for an ankle miracle for you too x

  8. I don't anticipate my coffee table looking that clean for another 14 or 15 years…
I hope your ankle is better soon. I had issues with mine - some arthritic thing - in the fall and it was just awful. I'm glad you're seeing improvement. I would be impatient too… xo

  9. Prayers for healing on that ankle! I love my own piles, but others? Nope, get rid of them! Hope the knitting turns out well... can't wait to see it!

  10. I hope you were able to put that ankle up while you knit! It has been a weird weekend full of back woes that required me to lay low. First time ever for that. Quite odd, but feeling better today.

  13. Oooh, I'm having a little clean table envy just now. And that couch is inviting me to lay down for a bit of a nip. I think you should make yourself a nice cup of tea, put that ankle up (so hard to stay off it, isn't it?) and do a little reading or knitting. It's that kind of day today. :) Feel better.

  14. Isn't it amazing how "neat" things are when our offspring aren't leaving little piles of life all over the place?

  18. Yes, how comfy does that couch look!?
A clean kitchen and a cup of tea sounds just perfect.
