Yarn Along

Thought this week I'd show my progress on my citron shawl. For me it is compelling knitting, and it's not boring knitting.  I love this shawl and this mystery yarn is just as nice.  I am on the fifth ruching and I hope I have enough yarn to get to nine sections!!  It all depends on how much yarn I have, the vendor said 1000 yards.  Let's hope she was right!!  I posted yesterday about my sweater and the sleeve is knitting up so fast compared to the never ending body.

I finished my book, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time and it was a very good book.  The main character is a boy with autism and he decides to investigate why his neighbor's dog was killed.  I found it fascinating to see the world through his eyes and his experiences.  It is a somewhat sad book in that he's misunderstood and yet you see how much he overcomes with life's challenges with his many coping strategies. His parents were real and even though they loved him dearly you could see the challenges they faced taking care of him and trying to understand him. I think it is a must read.

What are you knitting and reading?

  5. Your shawl looks lovely - are you using a slightly bigger needle size this time?
I keep meaning to read that book but haven't got around to it, yet. So many books on autism get me cross but this one has had very good reviews.

  6. So glad you liked the book! I'm also happy to hear your sleeves went much faster than the body of your sweater (which is gorgeous, by the way) - it gives me hope that I *might* finish mine by Saturday...

    1. I went down a size to size 5. On size 6 it looked to "loopy" for me.

  16. So many beautiful shawls recently! If I didn't take so long to knit one item, I might be more apt to start one :-) But, the amount of breaks I need to take to tend to my littles make it impossible to finish projects in a normal amount of time!

  17. Sigh. That pattern has been in my queue for so long! It just looks like a nice, pleasant knit. Yours is turning out lovely!

  20. ohhhhhhhh.....that is my dream shawl.
unfortunately, I've had to come to terms with the fact that- at least at this point in my life- I'm just not a committed enough knitter. DARN IT!
But...that shawl may turn the tables for me someday.

  39. Your citron looks fabulous. I stopped knitting shawls because I look terrible in them. And working at a middle school with hyper lemming like tweens they all look at me like I have a hydra head when I try to wear a shawl. Although I am a favorite teacher I can see the wheels of re-evaluation turning when a shawl enters the picture. So alas I just have to admire other peoples shawls and yours is beautiful. I am currently knitting an afghan, ttl mystery socks, a honey cowl and a february lady sweater. All but the FLS is 3/4 done and I am seriously resisting casting on a new project until something is completed. Still waiting for Snow Child from library and am currently reading Zoo by James Patterson. A very quick and interesting read.

  40. i just love how lacy and light it looks, makes me want to touch it :)
the book sounds like an interesting read. it sounds similar to a book i read as a teen, but i forgot how it was called.

  42. Your knitting is lovely as always…I never can get over the beautiful work you do with those fine yarns. (I've said that before, haven't I?)

I am so glad you loved the book. I did, too, and I agree it's a "must-read". I saw yesterday that you were feeling better; I'm so happy to hear that. Be well, my friend… xo
