Weekends

Palm Sunday for me was a dreaded Mass as a child because of its length and somberness and yet I would be excited to receive some palms in which to weave.  So yesterday after a quick lunch I set off to weave, I remembered my mom and my childhood.  I would cry getting frustrated because I could not begin or end my weaving.  I was a difficult child :)

Later yesterday we said goodbye to our son since his spring break has ended.  Laundry was finished, dishes were washed dried and put away.  The coffee table is once again visible.  I am getting comfortable with the comings and goings of the kids.

This weekend was a long break from the internet and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I might have to make every weekend internet free.  I finished two knitting projects which I'll share soon. Tomorrow perhaps?

How was your weekend?

  4. Wow- that weaving is so cool! I have to admit- sometimes I really look forward to the days when the kids will be independent and actually...well...leave the house sometimes? So that I could have all my rooms clean and neat all at one time?? ;)

  5. wow your weaving is so neat. Spending to much time on the internet is exhausting...It's so good to get a break at weekends if you can...I find I'm not careful in one way and another it can eat up so much of my life.

Look forward to seeing your finished projects.

  6. So how long did it take to get used to the comings and goings? I no where near there yet. I try to keep the weekends internet free. I don't always succeed, but I'm not on there nearly as much as I am during the week. Love your weaving...very cool!

  7. Hello! We favour quiet weekends too although this one was not and it was wonderful! The spring weather has arrived and we went to one of the Loire châteaux gardens with the children and dog. Sunday we went to a music and puppet show with the children which was absolutely brilliant!

I'm looking forward to seeing your finish projects!

  9. I am so impressed with your weaving! A few little girls in the same pew as us were doing something similar yesterday, and I remembered trying to make little crosses with mine when I was younger. I think every year I forget how long that mass is, but I'm still just glad to have a place at the table :)

  11. I always loved Palm Sunday! They did it with great percussion to really highten the drama of it all. I miss it. Every other church I've been to has been so bland on Passion Sunday after that.

  12. Comings and goings are difficult, even more so when your child and his/her family settles miles away. Eventually though, you do come to appreciate the peace and quiet and to cherish the comings.

  14. I love the palms woven Karen, it's something I've never seen before.
I am finding I get quite a bit more accomplished when I disconnect
for the computer, something I need to work more on.

  15. It must be so bittersweet, having your children come and go that way. I can't even imagine it, but I think it wouldn't be too hard to get used to being able to see my coffee table again. :)

I love your palms; I've never seen them woven that way before. We used to just make ours into little crosses and hang them on our mirror until the next Ash Wednesday. xo

  16. I've never seen the the palms like that...so neat. I love that it's from your childhood.

Disconnecting a little on the internet this week myself. Sometimes it's good to do a manual reset with things :)

    Have a great week!
