Plentiful Bounty

Whenever I visit family, I bring home gifts.  Some edible some not.  Some are in the photo and some are not.  The biggest container is homemade peach butter, the tallest is maple syrup and the tiniest is raspberry jam, all gifts from my dad and step mom.  His maple syrup season was not as plentiful as in the past.  I think he was disappointed because he recently built a "sugar shack" dedicated to processing the sap to syrup.  Well maybe next year will be better.

The tea cup and saucer were a gift from my sister.  But there is a story!  My sister's husband's aunt (Aunt Jane to us) recently died over the winter and my brother in law has been in charge of the estate.  I was thrilled to receive this vintage set and will lovingly think of her.  The stamp on the bottom of the tea cup says Germany.  I have a hefty collection of roosters so it has found a welcoming home.  Thanks sis!!

What is not in the photo are homemade Easter eggs.  My step mom crocheted some lovely ones and my sister gave me some of her felted ones.  Unfortunately when I arrived home I collected the Easter decorations and put them away without photographing them first-so next year you can see them!

Today the weather is warming up!  Whenever we walk, we search for signs of spring.  I've heard my elusive woodpecker, some bushes are sprouting slightly and the squirrels are digging up the whole garden looking for their nuts.  Frodo watches them religiously.  Given half the chance he would chase them if the fence wasn't there.  Rabbits are out, I hope they stay outside the fence as well.  They will be doomed if Frodo catches them.

Have a lovely weekend!!

  10. The kiddos have been so excited because my parents have a bunny living in the yard. My parents are not so excited because it nibbles the plants. What fabulous gifts, Karen. That teacup is so petite and delicate. I thought the rooster would be a perfect fit in your collection.

  11. Donyounplan to use the tea cup? I'm not sure I could bear to, what if it broke? I got an antique tea cup for a wedding present from my aunt. It had been her great aunts cup and she was passing it to me. It sits in the china cabinet and I use it as a vase for roses, but it has to sit on the table.
