Weekends

On Saturday we went to a library fundraiser to peruse the used books.  Once again I found many books that I could add to my collection.  I know!  You are thinking "but Karen, didn't you thin out your books this past January?".  Yes, I did indeed.  But you see I do not own THESE books (except for Cutting for Stone my memory failed me and I bought it and discovered I already owned a copy when I arrived home).  Love the Pooh book that was printed 1952, it's on the far left.

It was a beautiful weekend and the sunshine was soaked up by not only me but Frodo!  He has been spending more time out in his little yard.  I'm watching my lilac bush develop leaf buds overnight.  It was nice enough to have a door opened a bit for some much needed fresh air.  My husband and I are back to walking after dinner since daytime lasts much longer.  Frodo sits and stares us down until we remember it's walking time.  Frodo believes in mental telepathy.  (so do I!!)

The weekend meals were varied:  pancakes with maple syrup (from dad), scrambled eggs with spinach and mushrooms, tossed salads, left over pizza slices (found in the freezer).

Welcome spring!!

  1. I love the sale section of our library! We have picked up many, many books there, some for as little as 25 cents! Looks like you got a great selection to add to your own library. :-)

  2. I was devastated when I missed the library book sale this year!!! What treasures you found!!! Spring has sort of found us, too......and those after dinner walks!!! Back in the routine. I wish Freddie would just use mental telepathy....as soon as we close the dishwasher, he starts running in circles and to the front door. Nothing dumb about that dog!

  3. The Perks of Being a Wallflower - gah! I think all teenagers should read that one. My youngest claims it's the best book EVER. And you can never go wrong with Pooh.

  4. See, all the cleaning out you did in January was just what was needed to make room for new books. I get it, truly I do.

We had pancakes here this weekend. I love pancakes so I don't make them too often...my body just can't take it ;)

  10. Well you need to get rid of books to make room for more, right :)

  16. Glad you had some sunny weather and got some new books! I remember going to hear Margaret Atwood speak years ago...before kiddos :) That's such an intriguing book!

  17. Books! I have a wekness for them too! And have been known, on occasion to purchase more than one copy of the same, intentionally :)
    Love your "Springish" menu too!

  18. I'm the same, I can never resist a good book sale! In fact I don't need an excuse to buy books! And I LOVE all things A.A. Milne, as illustrated by E.H.Shepard rather than Disney :)

  19. You will love Cutting for Stone! I need to check out that Willa Cather one; I've enjoyed 3 others of hers. You scored, for sure!

  20. I also cannot resist books! I just bought Cutting for Stone over the Christmas break (also from a library book sale), but I haven't read it yet--always trying to finish my library books before they are due! But I am looking forward to reading it sometime soon. Virtual book club!
