Yarn Along

We had an active weekend so my reading time was sparse.  I continue to enjoy this book, The Midwife, and find her career fascinating. She is very frank about her experiences and frequently describes them with many senses.  I get quite the chuckle when she mentions how nauseated she gets by overwhelming smells.  Glad I'm not the only one ;)

I am on the body of my same same cardigan.  What time I lacked in reading over the weekend was spent knitting.  I love that you can knit with a group of people and it's socially acceptable.  Lucky for me, my knitting did not require any great thinking on my part.  Now that the sleeves are set aside, each row is a breeze to knit.  The body knitting will not be boring because I have to remember three details:  1) the button holes!!! 2) waist shaping and 3) the pleats along the side seams.  If you are an advanced knitter or an adventurous intermediate knitter, who is comfortable with instruction reading, check out the pattern, it's lovely to knit :)

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  3. It looks like it is coming along nicely! I am still knitting away at Emerson's blanket, and feel like I am making some progress again, at the expense of reading though. My little darlings are taking up most of my time at present, but I want to make the most of that. Cohen starts school next year and then everything will change. :)

  9. I'm echoing everyone else...that colorway is so lovely! I adore it. I have to confess that when all my friends got on the 'Call the Midwife' craze I dutifully watched the first episode and really didn't get into it at all. Maybe I should try at the book first and then see how I feel. It's been a huge disappointment to my friends, since we are usually all in on things like Downton Abbey and the like, and they can't talk 'shop' with me about this one!

  18. Your cardigan is just so gorgeous! Since I have this nasty cold, I think I may lay back and work on my honeycomb blanket today--I've done enough that I can actually use it as a blanket while I am knitting it, which is a great bonus! :)

  22. Beautiful color for your sweater, the design is really sweet.
I agree about knitting in groups, there aren't too many hobbies or activities that fit that description! I wish it was socially acceptable to knit in church, since I find I have an easier time listening and processing when my hands are busy with a repetitive motion!

  34. My sister asked me if knitting in company was allowed and I said absolutely...then I had to qualify that statement by adding uncomplicated, non-cussing, pay attention to the conversation knitting was allowed. At that particular instance, I don't think that was the answer she was looking for....Oh well.

  35. Isn't that an interesting book? I love the details that are missing in the TV shows. Seems like somewhere I saw that there are 2 more books in the series. Love seeing your knitting projects and other photos.
