Blue Danube Hat

This is the third time I've knit up the Sockhead hat, if you haven't you should.  It's very simple and the yarn does all the work.  My son (that's him in the photo) wanted a "loud" hat.  His words not mine.  This was the loudest hank I could fine since I wanted to knit from the stash.  As you know I buy muted shades for my stash building activities.  I must think outside the muted box.  L-O-U-D.

The hat is not loud but I think it looks great. I love how the brim could be folded up for extra warmth on those chilly windy winter days.  Ravelry notes are here.

(sadly the little bunny did not make it through the afternoon as feared, I'm hopeful all the little brothers and sister bunnies caught wind of his demise and have relocated)

  1. It looks great! That is so funny that he wanted a loud hat:) And funny what shades and hues we gravitate toward as knitters. My stash runs the full gamut at the moment, but that's only because a lot of it was passed on to me by another knitter. I never turn down free yarn! Sorry to hear about the bunny:(

  7. My daughter would be most jealous, you seem to produce new items at such a rapid rate (you must be a quick knit(. She is still waiting for me to start her hat for winter =I didn't want to risk no giving her one so I bought a cheapy from the shop but will still endeavour to do one as well. You may have just inspired me to get started and not be such a slacker. Lovely bright colour

  9. It looks wild enough to me! But then you know I'm a very plain Jane and knit most things in grey. My son never wants knitted hats, perhaps I should show him this one, then he might let me make him one :)

  10. Great hat. I do think that sometimes we stereotype our style. He may do great in 'loud' but this hat is definitely looking good on him!

  11. I just put the sock pattern in my Ravelry queue and printed it out. It is exactly what I've been looking for! Thanks! I've got some Alpaca Sox that I want to show off on my head instead of my feet.
