Yarn Along

The Kuura Shawl is a fun knit and the pattern is quite easy to memorize with only brief glances just to make sure.  I highly recommend this pattern. On the right is my same same cardigan and I consider it my hearty knitting project.  Currently I'm on the body keeping track of button hole placement, pleating, and waist shaping.  So as you can guess, there's a lot going on and sweeps away any boredom that could possibly descend when doing stockinette stitch with fingering weight yarn.

The Orchardist by Amanda Coplin is turning out to be a fantastic read.  The beginning chapter was distracting for me because of her great love of the semicolon.  Seriously-they are in almost every other sentence in the first chapter.  But then something wonderful happened, the plot jumped out grabbed my attention and now the semicolon dispair has taken a back seat in my mind. The characters are distinctly interesting and what's best is I have no clue where this story is going, so I read some more.

What are you knitting and reading?

  1. I just love the colour of your Kuura shawl. The semi colon thing would probably annoy me too. I'm putting that book on my list though, because now I'm curious!

  14. Beautiful projects! I'm seeing a lot of purple in today's yarn along.

You made me laugh about the semi-colon; My husband says I'm the only person he knows who actually uses them. And of course I had to include one for you, Karen. :)

  24. When I read 50 shades of Grey (I know, stellar reading) her continued use of the same words drove me bat crazy. But then again, the book was not read for grammer...

  27. "...her great love of the semicolon." You're so funny. No, seriously. You really do crack me up. I'm the worst offender with punctuation, so it's doub-ley funny. lol

That red has me...must work that into a project at some point! You've gotten quite a bit of knitting done ~ looking good :)

  31. I can only hope that one day I will reach your level of mastery! I haven't done any garments that big or complex (have been on a blanket kick lately, but I bet my fingers will start itching to make a sweater once the fall weather comes!) How great to have two projects--then you can switch back and forth when you like!

  32. I don't use semicolons that often....I use...those things....too much...according to the husband....what does he know :) Sweater and shawls are going to be gorgeous!
