Currently Knitting-Yarn Along

Yes, I'm still reading The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner, it's a slow read and requires all of my brain cells.  The writing style is challenging and the story is engaging.  I did cheat a bit though, the first chapter out of four was near impossible to comprehend so I investigated the author's meaning and intent.  I needed a reading crutch that did help me appreciate this work.

This sweater made it successfully to the bottom of my knitting bag during my shawl and mitt knitting days.  I am binding off the bottom of the body with an icord bind off.  Slow and tedious but such a detailed edge for a hem.  Love that!  Today will be sleeve knitting, fingers crossed.  Yesterday I finished my mitts and posted all about them-they might be my new favorite mitt pattern.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  1. The yarn you chose for the sweater is so pretty! Can't wait to see the finished sweater!! I'm still not knitting very much right now. Even though I'm home more right now, it seems I have less time. But that's summer and I'm sure I'll be knitting more once it gets cooler again. :-)

Good for you with sticking to Faulkner, I don't think I could have lasted that long.:)

  4. This is going to be gorgeous!! The shawl I'm working on will have an I-cord bind-off. I've done I-cords, but not in conjunction with a bind-off. New skill set coming up... I'm sure I will have it down, since it will go on and on and on. LOL! Can't wait to see your FO. blessings ~ tanna

  8. Very pretty sweater! I have no brain cells for Faulkner right now- good for you for sticking with it. Maybe when the baby stops getting up for the day at 5:30 I may have a chance at "real" reading again. :)

  19. Faulker...the English teacher in me is impressed! I agree that he can be a bit challenging! Love your knitting project. Don't know if I already let you know, but I have started a new blog. Had to take the old one private due to some "cyber security" issues. Please feel free to visit, comment and follow my new blog if you would like. Have a great week!

  20. Hi Karen, Thank you for popping by my blog and leaving such a sweet comment.
The yarn you have used for your sweater is so lovely. Is it Malabrigo?
I am certainly impressed by your tenacity in reading Faulkner, I confess to no such ability.
    Enjoy a beautiful week.

  22. OH an I cord finish...I have done that...so true, very tedious and a nice finish. I am with all the others this is a lovely yarn. Thanks for popping by my blog and leaving a comment...feedback on patterns are so important. I will be giving away my blue and white Gnome hat once I check the pattern. So be sure to stop by and put your name in the pot.

  24. I had to giggle about your "cheating" Karen.

I didn't know that you can bind off with an i-cord. I'll be googling to find out how it's done. I'm sure that you'll sharing the finished sweater soon, so I'll have a good look to see the difference with your bind-off.

Ahmad love his tie, and so I'm making him a linen one now and slowly reading the last few pages of Salmon Fishing in the Yemen whilst waiting in the hairdressers today, although I've already secretly started a new one.
    Have a good week

  26. I love your sweater! And I understand about reading slowly and needing some help! I had to read Ulysses once, and I am still really not convinced that I understood it at all! But I am glad you are enjoying it, and the tangled web that Faulkner weaves. My favorite section is Jason's:)
