Weekends and Knitting Possibilities

Each morning this week I managed to sit with coffee and indulgent knitting or reading before the day started.  Every single morning should be indulgent-makes the day start off in a good direction.  I went out to dinner with my family on Friday and afterwards quickly picked out a new washing machine (4 year old one is going going almost gone) then browsed Staples even though I needed ink for the printer.

Saturday was quiet, slow with grilled chicken, baked potato and green beans. I finished knitting up a pair of mitts for my daughter (photos soon) and then plotted out some more knits to cast on. I had a crummy sinus headache all weekend but I'm happy to say today is much much better!

I've been watching Dr. Who from the beginning, not the old beginning but the new beginning-reboot.  Neither my husband nor my son are fans, but I do love how when it's on the TV they watch :)  I don't know what it is about the show but I find it quite entertaining.

So I thought since Frodo hasn't been featured on any posts lately I'd through a photo of him chilling out, as you guess-not a rabbit in sight hence, the relaxed pose.  My last photo is Malabrigo Sock yarn (sigh!)  I'm thinking of a striped shawl still contemplating on the the pattern.

  1. I'm sorry to hear about your headache Karen and am glad you are feeling better. My allergies have been giving me fits so I guess it's back to the neti pot.
I love Malabrigo yarn, it's my favorite and I know you will knit something stunning with it.

What kind of camera do you use? I will be more than happy to look for a lens for you when I am thirfting. Is there a certain one you are wanting?

  7. Your days sound so perfectly lovely. You have a gift for inviting what is calm and beautiful, I think. We had a busy weekend, but all of it was so much fun. The art stores are having their end-of-summer/back-to-school sales now, so I'm surrounded by art supplies and feeling quite happy about it:)

  9. We've been rewatching Doctor Who as well. My kids are thrilled that we're on the Empty Child episodes. "Are you my mummy?" They'll walk around the house all day sayinging that (along with "delete! delete!" and "exterminate!" you should see their weeping angel faces - priceless).

After my knitting hiatus the boys have me working on multiple projects at a time. My poor spinning is taking a sad and mopey back seat. In fact, today I really ought to work on finishing up the Elf's birthday gifts!

  10. I was just thinking about Frodo not too long ago & how there hasn't been many pictures of him lately!! Sounds like a lovely weekend...except for the headache :-/ I get those all the time and they are no fun! I hope it's all gone now! Beautiful colors for a shawl! Have you seen the Color Affection pattern? That's in my queue to make....sometime. You'd need to get one more color for it though I think. But it's a lovely shawl!

  11. That's crazy that your 4 year old washing machine is almost done. They just don't make things like they used to. it's planned obsolescence. it will be interesting to see what you chose to make with your sock yarn.

  12. Oh that Frodo is such a cutie. That's a great shot of him.

I love starting my days with a cup of coffee and some knitting. I just need to wake up early enough to do it! Sadly I couldn't do it this past weekend due to the crazy schedule. But I agree - it definitely sets the tone for the rest of the day.

  14. Frodo is adorable! I get all excited when I see pictures of him... he reminds me so much of the little 'nauzer I had as a girl. They are a great breed! I have yet to knit with Malabrigo. From the pictures, it looks very yummy.

  15. I've never given Dr. who a fair chance, but all my friends love it. Maybe I'll give it another go from the beginning, it's hard to pick up in the middle
