Dinners, Walks and Wind

We had dear friends over for dinner and company on Friday night, the first dinner of many without a single child between us!  As much as I was sadden by the lack of children, I embraced the quick and easy clean up and the abundance of desserts on the tray.  We had a good time, with every intention to knit while together but we ended up with knitting in our bags at the ready untouched.

Saturday afternoon I resumed walking with my husband and Frodo, gingerly-I'm happy to report that the ankle is doing much much better and as long as I watch where I'm going I should be fine.  Those dastardly shoes have been safely tucked to the side. I feel incredibly lucky to be recovering so quickly.

The time change offered me a chance to knit a tiny bit more on the Thanksgiving sweater.  "I think I can, I think I can", is the mantra in my head. Positive thinking and all that stuff.  Besides the conversations with my two kids, I had a lovely chat with my favorite Aunt and Uncle.

Our after dinner walks have switched to before dinner walks, the wind was brisk and the both of us weren't dressed warmly enough (yes, I had on some woolens but I needed a winter coat!). Once inside, we made pizzas with mushrooms and black olives-so so delicious!  Football was on the TV, not watched by me-I knit and read.  Sketching out the Christmas list made me realize I need to knit one more item, when I thought I was done.

  1. I walked early Sun morning and was not dressed warm enough either. As much as I hate to wear a hat I may have to give in and look dorky for my walks in order to stay warm.

  2. we, too, are doing the before dinner walks...or mid-morning walks...or after lunch walks. (Freddy will try to get me out the door at all hours...even in the pitch dark....it's his 'job' to keep me in shape, I think) You are finished with holiday knitting!! WOW!!! way to go!!! (you are my hero!)

  5. And here I used the word "gingerly" to describe the way my dear old Moxie walks. It's good to hear your ankle is much improved and you can walk on it, albeit slowly.
November reminds us winter is on the doorstep pounding to get in. Your dinner sounds fun!

  8. I just ordered yarn to knit three more shawls for Christmas because I live in a world where I think this is possible ;)
I hope you post photos of you wearing your Thanksgiving sweater, it is such a great color for you and I know it will be beautiful.

  10. Sounds like a heavenly weekend. And I'm glad your ankle is on the mend. Hate to see you slowed down like that (although speaking of heaven, it's a good thing you have a few hobbies that embrace sitting and elevating!) I know you love your walks, though.
Lots of lovely yarn on your postings. I'm caught in this crochet gridlock that I cannot find my way out of, but it's all good. I see those knitting needles sitting and at the ready for when the time is right! Christmas knits are calling ;)

  17. Sounds like a lovely weekend. I'm envious of your fall walk and knitting time. I'm going to have to block some time this weekend. I can "smell" a fall walk in those leaves.

  18. So glad you are healing up quickly! It's wonderful that you can walk, even if very carefully just now. You are so far ahead of me with Christmas planning! But I do have some fun ideas in mind...:)
