Currently On the Needles

I'm making great progress on my shawl, the pattern is etched in my memory and I can pick it up and knit away happily with little snags.  This is not autopilot knitting but I don't need full concentration either.  I'm thrilled to be in a happy knitting place.  I love completing a repeat which takes longer and longer as the shawl continues to grow.  This shawl is just perfect for winter storm knitting.  Lucky for me, there is a storm outside today with inches of snow tipping down.

Ah, my reading is interesting.  Nella Last's War is a compelling read but not a fast read.  I am reading this near the end of the day and after a few pages I'm tired and ready for bed.  I love her point of view of the war.  She is my age with two adult boys who are involved in serving for the war.  Her feelings, her strength during challenges is moving.  I believe if I met her today we would be fast friends.

What are you knitting and reading this week ?

  4. Such a pretty knit Karen, I love that color of pink.

  5. What a beautiful color. I agree with Anke, it's a perfect color for the gray outside. We are getting slammed with a storm today too. It started about 4 this morning, we already have about 4 inches of snow, it is now sleeting/raining. they say it will probably switch back to snow for a bit before going to all rain. Blech. Now that you've had your daily RI weather report, you can go back to knitting ;-)

  13. It's coming along beautifully, and it's nice that the pattern is easy enough to be calming but not too boring that you tire of it. It's good too that you can relate to the character in your book. The characters in mine are very different to me but like you I'm reading slowly, purely because I'm enjoying reading so much that I don't want it to end.
I'm working on the annabel pullover again. It's so lovely and easy too.
    Keep warm.

  14. I'll have to look up that book at the library; thanks for sharing. :) Such pretty pattern for a lovely shade of rosy pink. We are expecting snow this weekend -- finally. They're saying more than we've had in years, and we just don't get very much here as we're low enough in elevation even though we're in the Cascades. The kids are excited and so am I. Let it snow!

  15. Very pretty shawl. That is a great pattern. I rarely trust myself when completing a pattern. It is nice that you can easily return to it.

  19. That is one of the things I dislike about shawl knitting. The longer it gets the longer it takes to complete a row and I feel like I"m not making progress. I love the color you've chosen!

  20. Such beautiful coloured yarn, your shawl's going to look great when it's finished :)

  21. It's been snowing here all day, too, and guess what I've been doing? Yup. Knitting! Your shawl is coming along beautifully. I can't wait to see it when it's all blocked and finished. I'm still reading the novel about Robert Louis Stevenson's marriage--it's really good.

  23. That looks like a perfect Valentine's shawl, Karen! Our thermometer has taken a nosedive, no snow though but lots of celebrating in downtown Seattle today in the cold. I'm about to start The Orchardist.

  24. Such a beautiful colour. I had stages in the shawl I am knitting now like that, when I could knit without concentrating too hard, I still make mistakes tho'! Hope your storm is short lived.

  26. Oh, you know I love that color!! =) I've started back to work on a shawl I started Jan. 2 then ditched for the big crochet adventure. LOL! I'll admit... I love getting back to my lace... but the bobble business is more fun in crochet. LOL! Enjoy your storm knitting and stay warm! blessings ~ tanna
