Currently on the Needles

As of this morning, I am faced with knitting the thumb! I am so excited to be nearing the end of this fun knit :)  I believe that knitting a glove is just as easy as knitting a sock.  All you need is two sets of dpns and the best part is you can fit the glove to your hand to know how long each finger is to be!  If you haven't knit gloves before I highly suggest this pattern.  Ravelry notes are here.

Can you believe I'm on another book?  I know, there must be something wrong with me.  I finished Mary Oliver's A Thousand Mornings poetry collection over the holiday weekend.  I loved the poems and the way she sees the world.  This collection is a great way to dip your toes into the poetry waters. I continue to read David Copperfield on my Ipad and have been enjoying the story.

The book in the photo is really captivating even though I'm in the beginnings.  Again, I shamelessly chose this book initially from the cover art but the blurb on the back sealed the purchase.  The story is still unfolding and for now I'm happy with the pace and the way the author is unveiling the plot.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  5. Looking at your beautiful gloves makes me want to try my hand at a pair. It'll have to wait until fall though, right now I don't want to knit something that reminds me of the cold winter we had. ;-)

  13. Mmmm, those gloves are so yummy and elegant. I love the design detail on the wrist! Sometimes I choose books by their cover too. And if the cover has been redesigned, I usually want the original. Weird like that....

  15. I was going to say, that's a gorgeous cover ... it would probably be enough reason for me to read that book! And absolutely nothing wrong with reading books so quickly, I do it myself! (Well, when I am able. :) ) Love the gloves!

  19. Ooh, your gloves look very long and elegant, Karen - I have to admit that I've been too lazy to do fingers and always end up opting for mittens. I've bookmarked the pattern on your recommendation and perhaps I'll get around to some digits this year!

  20. I like the cable work on your gloves. I have yet to knit a glove with fingers; so far, it's only been fingerless gloves for me.

I too have been known to choose books by their cover:) I love that you are reading David Copperfield. I haven't read it, but I do love reading the old (free!) classics on my Kindle:)

  32. Hmm...my post vaporized itself. I'm working on booties at the moment for my daughter's MIL's friend. Just finished Blood and Beauty about the Borgias. Next up for our book club is Songs of Willow Frost which I didn't like as much as his first book, The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. Nice gloves; I need to try that pattern!

  33. I loved that book!!! I could hardly put it down! I then moved on to Me before you by Jojo Noyes next and that was another terrific book. Your gloves are sensational!
