Currently on the Needles

I have focused mainly on knitting this shawl and have a mere four rows left before the project is off my needles!  I am placing beads and find the task fun and relaxing.  I haven't had much time to knit since both kids are home visiting but I manage to carve an hour each day to make some progress.

My reading is the same.....I picked a very large book and my reading time is slim.   However, I am enjoying this read and the characters and the twisty plot.  I believe you cannot go wrong with reading a classic novel. Do you have a favorite?

What are you knitting and reading?

  3. Only four more rows and you are finished with the shawl! Awesome! I think my favorite classic novel would have to be Little Women. Louisa May Alcott is one of my favorite writers. Have a lovely day, Karen!

  5. That's something I've been wanting to try--knit with beads. Four rows to go! I love how fast projects fly off your needles. You are the most amazing knitter I know. Golden Orchids is such a gorgeous pattern; I am really looking forward to seeing your shawl all blocked and finished.

  8. all those tiny stitches - the rows must take so long at the end :-) I agree with Charles Dickens - his books are such a treasure chest of characters and descriptions. I love the way he describes things - can read them over and over and over.

  10. The shawl is looking beautiful. One of my favorite classics is The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton. I highly recommend it. As well as anything by Jane Austen.

  14. Lovely shawl pattern, I've not seen that one before. I've got a beaded shawl on a shelf next to me that I need to get round to finishing. I'm less than 20 rows from the end but keep working on other projects instead. Must make some time for it!

  20. That's a great shawl pattern, Karen. It was so funny. I looked at it and thought to myself, "Huh, I wonder if I could put beads in there" and then I read that you ARE!

I've enjoyed going back and listening to classics via the CraftLit Podcast.

  26. It has beads? You are a brave and busy woman, but to find it fun and relaxing? I might need to check your temperature ;) I think one of my favorites is Jane Eyre. The Count of Monte Cristo. Enjoy your knitting and your reading. I feel another awesome FO around the corner! I'll be back soon to check.

  29. Karen, just what do you do with all the lovely shawls you create? You must have the most beautiful closet or dresser drawer filled with them. :) Daniel and I just finished A Tale of Two Cities (our final lit. book for the school year)...we meet to discuss it with our co-op this afternoon! Dickens is a master, isn't he?

  30. I'm always fascinated at how different lace looks on the needles from when it is blocked. Beautiful shawl pattern -- is it for you? I hope so. Little Women is always a favorite. And, silly, but I could read the Little House series over and over. In fact, I think I'm going to start reading them to my elderly mother soon.

  31. Very pretty, Karen. I am anxious to see it finished! You are one fast knitter. I just finished a knitting mystery by Maggie Sefton. Have you read any of those?
