Weekends

Weekends are for memory making,
relaxing and enjoying quiet moments of our days.
If you would like, please share your weekend moments
in the comment section with a link to your blog.

These summer days have only just begun and I've decided to embrace the beauty that is local to my area.  I'd like to explore more of what could be a day trip.  This weekend was one of those days, however this stop was not planned.  We were driving yesterday in the country and I saw a covered bridge.  Lucky for me, my husband was just as eager to stop and look about.

Unfortunately, I did not read and memorize the details of when the covered bridge was built.  I was all into that arced beam spanning the bridge wondering how they constructed it and assembled it.  I want to be a "stop and look" person instead of a "oh that is interesting, maybe one day I'll stop" person.

My weekend also contained:

-green bean buying, locally and organically grown
-zucchini buying for bread baking
-Doughnut eating-not healthy and not on my diet plan but oh so very good!
-watching the movie Holes
-casting off on a shawl-planning on blocking that today
-later this afternoon will be the laundry

How was your weekend?  I'd love to know!

    1. The bridges are NOT to be driven on since they are preserved by a historical society. I'm guessing that they cannot bear the weight of traffic or that it's too much money to repair? Anyways it's a picnic area-neat huh??

  3. Mike has a thing for covered bridges too, unfortunately we don't have any down here. We do have a draw bridge that makes me crazy, I always get caught by it and then have to wait for it to close

I'm so glad you mentioned zucchini bread, I need to grated some and put it in the freezer for fall.
I can't wait to see your shawl!

  4. Karen, your covered bridge is so pretty! We don't have any close by us...but there are a number of them in our state. Thanks so much for sharing yours! Your entire weekend sounds so relaxing! I wish we lived closer to share some talk time. :)

I'm working at getting back into the rhythm of a routine now that I am home from being gone last week! :) You can read about it here: http://jesusweadorethee.blogspot.com/2014/06/weekends_29.html

  10. Stopping in the moment without always just adding things to that list of 'when I have time' is so important, something I need to do a bit more of also, I made a start this weekend but in a slightly different way xx

  14. Love covered bridges although there aren't too many nearby. The highlight of our weekend was seeing a wonderful local production of Funny Girl with friends.

  15. I am a stop and look person, but with kids, as you know, it doesnt always work out to actually stop.... My husband is NOT a stop and looker.. he is a get done quick kinda guy... and that is a big area of difference for us.
My weekend was sort of hectic, flying back from Mexico and then doing about 7 loads of laundry yesterday! Hope you are enjoying summer!

  16. I always loved covered bridges and saw as many of them in Vermont as I could when I lived in Massachusetts. I didn't grow any zucchini this year. I was just over it from last year.

  17. Beautfiul bridge and it's so good after a few hectic end of school weeks to take the time to catch up on your latest posts!

Embracing summer sounds like a very good plan. June should be, perhaps the lovliest month of all but it often flits by way too fast as school and children-based activities take up so much time. I cannot believe it's the first day of July already.

I'm so looking forward to enjoying these slower days. School ends on Friday here in France. Hurrah!

  18. Oh how beautiful. It reminds me of 'The Bridges of Madison County.' A great beginning to the summer.

  19. I've never made zucchini bread. I should add that to my list of things to try making.

  20. Oh, that covered bridge is beautiful...look at those arched beams!!!
Zucchini bread is a favorite here...hoping our zucchini plants do well so that I can freeze some for winter batches of zuke bread.
I'm a bit late to this party, but here is my link to how we spent our weekend...
