Currently on the Needles

I know, I'm late to the reading party of this book but hey, better late than never.  I started this book a few days ago and immediately fell in love with Gilbert's writing style and the rhythm of the plot as the introduction of characters unfolded.  Have you read it?  I'm glad I started.

My knitting has been almost the same, the striping of my fair isle hat is coming along nicely.  The lack of significant progress, I'll blame on the busy week for my lack of time to knit.  I am nearing the finish line of my Hitofude, fingers crossed I have a finished post next week.  I also finished my imagine when shawl and had every intention to write up a post BUT the shawl ran small so I am in the middle of blocking it to gain some growth.  I'm a bit grumbly about the blocking of garter stitch, I tend not to block that stitch pattern so as to retain the squish factor.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  1. No, you aren't the only one late to the party, I haven't read it yet.
Sorry you are grumpy, but maybe after it's all blocked a huge smile will unfold!
Hugs to you on this fine Wednesday.

  3. I really look forward to pictures of your finished hitofude! Now that I have the pattern, I am anxious to see how your's turned out. I have not read the book yet. Truthfully, I wasn't too impressed with "eat, pray, love" and have not really looked into her other books.

  16. I've never read that book, either.

I love your new fair isle project! I can't wait to see your Hitofude. I'm still on the fence about whether I should buy the pattern, but I think it's going to end up in my library very soon.

  17. I haven't read it yet either, but it's high on my list. I too really enjoy her writing style.
I'm glad to hear that others are reluctant to block garter stitch, it totally DOES deplete the squish factor. But if you need some extra inches, there's not much choice in the matter, is there?

I have a shawl that I finished a little while ago that despite blocking is still pretty small. I'm really not sure what to do with it, how to wear it exactly. Like a scarf/cowl maybe? blargh.

  29. I read eat, pray and love - so would be great to read this one! I have a garter stitch jumper and intend to block it, but I am a bit wary of it - so it has been sitting in my WIP pile at the moment, until I decide what to do!
