Currently on the Needles

There's been a whole lot of knitting going on around here.  I am plugging away at my sock yarn blanket, enjoying the color changes and loving the way the blanket is keeping me warm while I knit.  However, we have a temporary warm front today so I'll be shelving this project until the warm front passes.

I finished one cowl and started another cowl.  A simple variation of the grey loop cowl.  When I get a chance I will write up what I did.  This time around my wool is alpaca so I went down a couple of needle sizes.  I'm pleased with how this cowl is knitting up.  I'm planning on one more cowl after this one and then maybe that will be it.

My reading is the same, The Signature of All Things.  I do love the writing but sometimes the story ebbs and flows.  I find that when the characters are interacting and there's conversation, I'm wrapped in the story, flipping pages faster and faster.  When the author goes into long descriptions...well I get a little bored.  I do read at night when I am tired and I know that is a factor to my attention span.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  4. I think you blanket is one of the coolest things I have seen, I love it. This weather is nuts isn't it? You have a warm front and after some really bad storms last night we have a cold front making things feel much more comfortable.

  5. I'm still loving that blanket! It's really humid here today too. So strange. Don't you love knitting cowls? That has become one of my favorite knit projects.

  6. I can not tell you just how much I love the look of your blanket! I know what I am going to make when I have enough leftover sock yarn in my stash again!! Right now I'm knitting the Dickson skirt and I am totally smitten with the pattern. (I get lots of knitting time while at swim meets and volleyball games.) Last night I finished "The Pilot's Wife" and really enjoyed it.

  7. I love your sock blanket and hope the weather makes a return to fall so you can get back to it. This strangely warm and humid front has interrupted my enjoyment of crisp fall weather!

  10. Your sock yarn blanket is so pretty! I'm dropped all my current knitting this week to cast on a pair of socks for my cousin who is quite unwell. I'm reading the latest book in the Shetland series by Ann Cleeves. I usually only read at bedtime, so can really relate to what you said about tiredness and attention span.
