Weekends

Weekends are for memory making,
relaxing and enjoying quiet moments of our days.
If you would like, please share your weekend moments
in the comment section with a link to your blog.

My weekend started with a dinner out on Friday night with my husband.  We have a few restaurants that we cycle through and one has changed the menu.  Oh.  I'm not sure that I like the new menu but I definitely sounded like a non adventurous person as I lamented what used to be.  Keep in mind I eat the same breakfast every day (cheerios) and if I eat something else it's because I'm traveling.  We also finished most (really all) of the shopping.....I think.

I found Frodo a new bed for his Christmas present and every day he goes into the studio to sniff around.  He knows something in there is for him.  The power of a dog's nose!

Saturday was a lazy day until the afternoon when we prepared a meal for our friends who came over for a visit.  I taught her how to knit in the round on circulars and we talked....a lot.  I worked on my husband's sock which is mindless and easy, she recounted some cast on stitches about four or five times.....counting and talking do not mix.

Today was Mass, do you believe it's the third Sunday of Advent?  Gosh.  These days are whizzing by as we approach the holidays.  At Church, there is a little baby who is about four months old that sits near us.  He is a delight to watch since our parish is mostly older folks.  In fact, I see many of my pew neighbors looking and admiring his smiles.  How lucky are we?  I remember when he was born :)

The day has been gloomy outside but inside the music is playing and the holiday spirit is alive!

How was your weekend?

  1. Love your pew partners! my mom always called them that.!
It is soooo gloomy here but the holiday lights are great . I've lit candles on the mantle and we are watching fun ice skating on TV. Such a treat. pancakes and bacon ...for dinner tonight

  2. I'm glad that you found a gift for Frodo. We had one day out sourcing tiles for the new kitchen but treated ourselves to lunch out. Wrapping up presents and then Sunday decorating all day. It was a good weekend we feel that accomplished a lot and are nearly ready for the tree.
Enjoy the rest of the week,

  3. I just had the best afternoon... our dinner club got together, and we always do a 'dirty Santa'....only it has to be something you have around the house to regift, or something you make. During dinner, one of the members pulled me aside and said she KNEW I'd love her gift....in fact she wrapped it with me in mind. So, of course, I chose it (my # was 2---not a good #, but what the heck!) and she was right. It was an antique napkin ring (I collect these!! it had a cocker spaniel on it!!!!!!!) I was over the moon. It was perfect, but it immediately got 'stolen' from me. (A friend leaned over and said he had a high number, not to worry, he was going to steal it back for me!!!) But, it got stolen again (this other friend said afterwards that he was intending to gift it to me for Christmas), but it was stolen from him and the third time was the end. I didn't get this wonderful 'thing', but I had 3 friends who gave me what the season is all about-----their friendship and a good giggle. I definitely came out the winner.

  4. I spent the Saturday preparing for today, all of my babies were here and I loved it! Now, the house is quiet and I am exhausted!

  5. We went to church with our daughter and family to watch our 4 year old grandson as a sheep in the Children's Christmas Pageant. He was very cute and said his line. During the pageant, we sang many familiar carols. I held the 16 month old brother and rocked him while we sang. I think it might be the best moment of the holiday season.

  6. That sounds like a lovely weekend. I did quite a bit of knitting in between outings with friends. I should have been working, but I just didn't get around to it!

  7. Your weekend sounds wonderful, Karen. Wish that had been me you were helping with knitting. That is one of my goals for this winter...relearn how to knit! :)

Yay for having your shopping done...and YAY for Frodo for knowing there is something for him in a certain place!

Our weekend was good...I crocheted, and read! :) http://jesusweadorethee.blogspot.com/2014/12/weekending_14.html

  8. I too like to eat the same things again and again (both at home and when going out). there's something comforting in that, I think. and maybe it makes it a bit of a ritual. though we do try to branch out now and again and try something new, I often just want the same old thing. You describe the many on church so sweetly- I can almost see him, the object of so many loving gazes :)

my weekend was mostly about food- with actually quite a lot of variety for a change!

  13. The weekend was slow and easy for us. A tea date on Saturday with a friend, and some hiking on Sunday. My little man has been crafting up a storm, which has been fun to watch. Sounds like you had a great weekend. Enjoy your week Karen.

  14. I'm with you, I eat pretty much the same thing for breakfast every day. Home baked bread with peanut butter and a cut up banana on top. :-) We had a nice weekend. Movie night with the girls on Friday, a Christmas get-together with friends on Saturday and on Sunday I went to see my friends daughter perform in an Irish version of the Nutcracker. Our girls volunteered Saturday and Sunday to get the girls dressed, set up the stage and just help out wherever needed. All good things!

  16. Dog noses amaze me. Mowgli knows as soon as something comes into the house for him. I have to actually hide those things. It's so much fun to teach a friend a new knitting skill. I can not believe its the 3rd week of Advent either. We had a sweet baby in front of us yesterday at Mass who was going to be baptized. So nice for us baby starved folk to see!

  26. Somehow, whenever the restaurants we go to around here take something off of their menu, it is ALWAYS the one meal I always get! Then I sit there dumbfounded and cannot pick a new food item!

  28. It is so funny how dogs just know when there is something for them isn't it! Sounds like you had a nice time this weekend, and I know what you mean about restaurants and menus, I went out on Friday for lunch with friends and nothing really appealed on the menu at all, it just happens like that sometimes doesn't it! xx
