Those Nothing Days

The light has shifted, have you noticed?  The days are longer and the sun shines brighter.  On cold cold sunny days while sitting inside, it looks like a warm day.  Even Frodo is lured into a sense of warmth.  He sees that sunlight playing in the backyard and want to be outside.  After a few minutes outside, he is shivering and pulling to go back into the house.

The week passed by quickly and I noticed that I was content and happy.  Not a care in the world.  I wish I could bottle up those "nothing" days and bank them for when something creeps into my worrying mind.  I love being content and relaxed and in the moment.  Oh life, you challenge me as I learn to focus on the positive and remain present in my daily life.

The daily salad has returned to my diet as I think more towards spring.  I've been on a chickpea kick.  Lately I've been making chickpea salad with mayo and chopped celery served on toasty bread with a little bit of salt and pepper. The chickpeas are fork crushed of course.

Have a lovely weekend!!

  1. Those "nothing" days are really something! I also love that wonderful feeling of contentment and not worrying, even if it happens far too infrequently. And you're right about the deceptive warmth; it's 5 degrees here this morning but the sun is trying to fool me into thinking it's 45!

  2. We're in the middle of Season so the days are crammed full and busy. Rest and relaxation sound divine!
Chickpeas are so good! I don't remember eating them except in 7 Bean Salad when I was growing up. Now I put them in everything!

  3. Nothing days are the best. I laughed when I saw you have been on a chickpea kick, me too! Have you tried adding a little red onion and dried cranberries to them? It's not bad.
Enjoy your weekend and the light!

  7. I love that you are having such good care free days! Isn't the extra light just wonderful? I am noticing it at the end of the day that I can still see some sun (when we actually have sunny days - LOL) after 5 pm.

  8. The long days lift my soul. May your nothing days continue for awhile and the calm stay with you after they're gone. We have not had winters cold for so long and our days go on and on with temperatures well above normal. Hard to complain when the day presents you with the bluest sky, white mountains, and a temperature of 70.

  12. The photos are great and reading this post, made me feel cozy. I wish I was as good about a daily salad. I wish I could be as enthused about salads at home. I like salads out in the world, isn't that funny? Last week Friday I got a small kale and breadcrumb salad and sat outside at a small little parkway in the sunshine. It made me feel smiley on the inside and pleased to be a grown up, boss of my lunch and my time ;)

  19. my favorite kind of weeks...sometimes, must settle for just this kind of day!

Just yesterday, the forecast was for the temps to climb into the upper 50s...so, early I looked out, saw the sun shining brightly, ran to the mailbox----and nearly froze my hiney!!! (oops) That sunshine was really deceiving!!!! (it was hours before the temps climbed the way they were predicted!!!)
