Currently on the Needles

Good morning!  We are finally having some decent rainfall after weeks of very little if any.  The duck pond residents are probably quite happy.  My knitting has been progressing along.  I'm over half way on my knitting the body of my pullover.  Yay. I'm quite happy with how the sweater is looking.  That luscious skein of madelinetosh yarn is for a super secret knitting project for Christmas.  That is all I can say about it.  So each of you can use your imagination on what it is and who it is for :)

I'm over half way through my book The Remains of the Day.  I'm enjoying the book but I find that I comprehend more during the day.  It's a "talking" book so long paragraphs of reflections lull me when it's late at night (late like 8:30 p.m. ha ha ha).  Daytime reading, no problem at all.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  1. hee hee....my 'night time' reading has been sort of the same----having trouble sorting out the time changes this time!!! :) Never heard of that book...need to look into it. Of course, I LOVE the color of your sweater---what a wardrobe basic that will be!!! And someone is in for a great Christmas gift! :)

  2. I'm doing a happy dance with all this rain. We need it desperately and I may use it as a handy excuse to stay inside and knit this weekend!

  3. I'm with you on the night time reading... I do better during the day, which is why I don't get to read too much during the week. At night I seem to have a hard time staying with it... I'm getting close to finishing my little shawl, only 9 rows to go. Of course there are over 500 tiny stitches on my needles...

  4. What MadTosh colour is that? It looks very similar to the one I'm currently knitting socks with! Super gorgeous.... :) I really like Ishiguro, but haven't read this one yet. Should do.

  5. What a nice, basic knit you're doing...the color is just perfect! Glad you're getting some rain. I'm praying we get more rain soon -- thankfully, the forest fire danger here in WA has dropped due to rain we received early in the month. Lucky someone who will get that MadTosh all knitted up!

  6. I just realized I have your pullover in my queue, it's a great pattern, and I do love the color of yarn you're using, it will go with so much.
We didn't get the 2 inches of rain they were calling for, thank goodness. I am tired of the rain, but glad you have some for the duck pond.

  7. Ha, Karen! I know what you mean about evening reading . . . zzzzzzzzzzz.
Your pullover is so cozy looking. You've made a lot of progress. The person who receives it is a lucky duck!
I loved the film, The Remains of the Day. LOVED it.

  8. I have a book by that author, When We Were Orphans, on my shelf but I haven't read it or the one you're reading. I do sometimes have trouble with "talking" books too! I come back to them after having slept and can't recall who is was that said what.

  13. Look at that progress on your pullover! You are so fast Karen. We are getting some major rain here too. Looks like it will be dark and gloomy through the weekend. And maybe a hurricane too!

  16. You are making crazy fast progress!!! It looks super and it'll be done in no time flat. I agree with the 8:30 thing - can't keep my eyes open lately. Mid afternoon slump and past 8 are starting to get to me - maybe less knitting and more exercise?? .......Nah.

  17. Great book, but definitely wordy!! Have you seen the movie with Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson? It's lovely but books are always better than movies!!

  18. I want to steal that Madtosh from you. Love that color. I usually read at night as I knit during the day with the good light around. I understand about wordy books though. I had a hard time read Pride & Prejudice. Getting through each character's dialogue was like navigating through a hedged maze. I had to listen to that on free audio.

  20. Lots of rain here too, over the last few days, but the sun is back today, with cooler temperatures. It truly feels like fall now :)

Your sweater is coming along, can't wait to see it!

  22. I think that I can guess who it's for...love the garter stitch and a useful colour. I'm so far behind with everything still on the final lap of the cobblestone for Ahmad. I would have liked to finish it for today as it's his birthday. But never mind. Enjoy your rain we had quite a bit over the summer so although I love rain I'm enjoying a little reprieve to catch up on outdoor jobs.
    Happy rainy days.
