Pumpkins and Squashes

No matter how summer like it feels outside there are sights and sounds of fall. Yesterday on my walk, I was hot but oh my, the views!  The angle of the sun feels different and the heat is less intense.  Fall is here and here to stay.

This week I've been knitting up a storm, working on the hat and the sweater and cycling from one to the other with glee.  I need to add another project in the rotation.  Christmas knitting is whispering to me and yet I want to knit for myself.  Oh what to do!  A little of both I guess.

Slowly salads are being replaced by warm meals... soup!  I love the change of seasons and the change of foods.  Bring on the pumpkins and squashes.  I've plans for potato leek soup as well!

Have a great weekend!!!

  2. this last week here in S Africa has been a killer - I think your heat has made a visit to our side of the world.. If we are starting Spring off with 37 degrees celcius (as is today!) I feel a little fearful as to just what we are in store for when Summer comes our way. I love autumn... all things autumn...... ps I am loving the new look of your blog xxxx
    have a blessed weekend!

  7. it was sososososo hard to come home from perfect 40-60 degree swings of temps to....90+ with humidity to match. BUT...there are pumpkins and mums and squash all over the markets now, so like you----I'm sure fall is near. Can't wait!!!! :)

  8. You really hit the nail on the head with the whole single of the sun concept. So true, and I couldn't quite put my thumb on it (two cliches in one comment!) the angle of the sun IS remarkably perfect in early fall. Warms my cheeks just so.

  10. Gloomy rainy weekend here in the Southeast which started yesterday afternoon, but we need the rain. I saw some delicious looking (in a jar) pumpkin tomato sauce at our local Fresh Market that I want to try with my spaghetti squash tonight. I too love squash and pumpkins! Perfect weekend for knitting (and eating)!

  13. We are still getting warm days here. I hope Mother Nature is getting it out of her system for us in the Bay Area. But there is nothing like a pretty blue sky. I'm going to need to try the squashes w/the ohana this fall.

  17. It felt like fall here today for sure. The temps never went above mid 70's and we had a slow and steady drizzle for most of the day. It was great being outside when it wasn't raining and I believe we have another day just like it in store for tomorrow. :-)

  18. The switch from salads over to soup is the greatest time of the year! Getting stuck into knitting for Christmas and for self is always the most lovely way to spend our time.

  19. There are few things I like as much as baked squash in the fall.
I've been bouncing between knits for myself and gift knitting -- and not getting much finished as a result.

  20. I agree! We are having Caribbean sweet potato soup for dinner tonight!

  21. I too am so excited to exchange salads for soups soon. Please send over some of that less hot weather my way. We should be abut 104 today, so that means soup will have to wait.
I think casting on something for yourself and Christmas gifts at the same time is an excellent idea. But then again since when isn't casting on all the things a good idea in my book? :) Enjoy your Sunday!
