Currently on the Needles

My knitting and reading this week have been kind of slow.  However, I did have a chance to start a hat for a Christmas gift, no project page yet but the pattern is here.  I'd like to start some fingerless mitts for gifts as well this week. That is my knitting plan and I'm sticking to it.

I continue to enjoy All the Light We Cannot See.  The plot is slowly building up, more characters are being introduced and I'm waiting for all the characters to be woven together.  How exciting!

What are you knitting and reading?

My reading stack is another story! Lots of good books right now, that I'm excited about! I read the new Mitford book, Come Rain or Come Shine by Jan Karon. LOVED it!!

  4. My knitting and reading have been slower than yours. I'm plodding through a book and can hardly find time to sit and knit. Enjoy the rest of the book, as it is a true treasure!

  10. I too have been wondering about the book. Our local library says the estimated wait to read it is over 60 days. Should I bite the bullet and just buy? That color is lovely, can't wait to see the finished hat.

  11. Oh beautiful! Your knitting sounds pretty fun to me. I just found out there is a group of ladies from the homeschool group I am trying to get involved with who are going to discuss that book at book club in January. I am excited that I have actually read it already so there is a chance I'll be able to make it. I'm glad you're enjoying it.

  23. Sigh, some day I will get that book back from my daughter! She is taking forever to read it! I love the hat, I have been looking for a warm hat for my upcoming trip, I checked out the pattern on Ravelry and am thinking of trying it. Would you recommend it for a beginner like me?

    1. the hat is knit flat, but I knit it in the round. The designer might incorporate that but the way it is written (flat then sewed) would be a good first knit.

  29. Pretty hat. That orangey color will be just the thing on a cold winter day. I am reading a YA book,The Hired Girl, and listening to some old Sherlock Holmes stories via librovox. Currently on the needles are a pair of So Simple Silk Garden socks and a pullover, September Morn. Stay warm. The weather is changing.
