Currently on the Needles

I've been knitting furiously (and somewhat fast) on the gift mitts.  So far I have two pairs knit and I'd like to knit two more.  My goal is to be done by Friday....we will see about that.  Anyways, I have been thoroughly enjoying the quick projects.  Instant gratification :)  Early in the morning I add a few rows to my shawl.

Because of the massive amounts of time I'm dedicating to my knitting, I haven't been reading a lot and when I do I fall asleep since it's at bedtime.  I cannot read and knit on dpns without making a mistake, and yes, I have tried!  Also because of all the eye drops I'm on, my eyes are tired by the end of the day and somewhat blurred.  I see the wonder doctor this afternoon and I have my fingers crossed that I get to discontinue one of the meds if not both.  Whatever it takes to get better I am at peace with whatever.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  21. I am feeling the pressure of these last five weeks before the 24th! I'm sorry your eyes are so tired. I do make time to read before bed to relax and quiet my brain. I feel now I need to haul ass on the knitting though especially during the day and maybe chill a bit on the blog reading til I'm done.

  22. I am gift knitting too-and hopefully will get things done quickly--like by the first week of December! I am so sorry about your eyes--that really affects quality of life and I hope they return to normal soon! Oh my goodness, I love your shawl and have put that pattern right into my queue.....but first......the Christmas knitting...focus Kim, focus....

  23. I love the colors you are using, Karen! I haven't been knitting but I have been painting up a storm! Trying to get three acrylics completed by Christmas for my daughters. Fingers are crossed that I will succeed! xx

  24. I am knitting Christmas themed socks. I'm dreaming about baby hats, so I should cast that on. I finished All the Light We Cannot See in Audiobook format and really enjoyed it. I'm dithering about to find the next story in one format or another.

  25. I do hope you get to discontinue the meds, especially if it helps with your vision. I am knitting on a basic shawl which I hope to finish this week.

  26. Bedtime reading! It is definitely a sleep-inducer. I know I should try to read more at other times.
Do your Fetchings curl at the top and bottom? Mine do, and it is so frustrating because it is a great pattern!

    1. they curl a bit but not too much, I do four cables at the wrist and three cable repeats for the upper palm. That extra bit helps.

  29. Fingers crossed too that you can stop the medication. Will be thinking of you today. I agree about the speed of small projects being gratifying. I'm doing little reading at the moment too but like you working on stocking fillers. It seems to be all that I can concentrate on at the moment.
    Take care,

  30. Lovely colours and stitch patterns. I find it hard to read novels at night too because my husband goes to bed super early and I am still put the toddler to sleep.

  31. Pretty knitting! And I loved that book!

  32. Sorry to hear about your eyes! Do you have a fancy pants phone, tablet or e-reader? I work for an ophthalmologist and we recommend using those if you have issues reading the font since you can change the size and backgrounds, etc. I've started listening to audiobooks (I download them free from my library on Overdrive) so I can read AND crochet at the same time :)

  33. Such beautiful knitting going on Karen. Love those colors :)

  36. Hope it went well at the doctor Karen. Gorgeous knits.

  37. So glad you are feeling better! Eyes are frightening to me when they go astray…how I depend on mine.
You knits are just wonderful! Went back through several of your post and they always make my heart sing. Take care and rest those eyes.

  38. Well, I hope you get to give up one of your meds and that you're feeling better. I love the color of your shawl - someone's getting a beautiful Christmas gift!

  39. I hope your eyes are much better and meds dismissed!!

Your projects are so pretty and I love your knitting needles.

I am not fast at all at knitting. Ah, well! I enjoy it anyway! :)

  40. Knit knit knit! I just had to frog half of a hat last night. So sad. But I am almost done with a sweater I am knitting miss Phoebe for Christmas. And I am reading way too many things right now. Oh well!
