Hello!!  I'm sitting here with a hot cup of tea ready to give you the weekend recap!

dandelion

Friday night we had a work related banquet for my husband and had a lovely buffet and some delicious shortbread cookies dipped in chocolate.  Our house guest was fun to be with and we had a jammed packed visit with him.

Saturday my husband and houseguest gave a workshop somewhere in New Jersey all day.  So I had the house all to myself.  I banned any "work".  So I read most of the day then sat and knit through some episodes of Gilmore Girls and Merlin.  I had a really great time :)

Late late late at night they returned home after picking up our son from the train station.  I woke up from Frodo growling and barking and then couldn't fall back to sleep.  (that means I'll sleep wonderfully tonight so I'm happy about it.)

Today was saying good bye to the house guest.  Our son decided to set up the back yard swing so he could take a nap on it.  I had my friends over for knitting.  Oh my!  I had so much fun with them :)

lilac is almost there

I walked around my yard and documented these spring days.  The flowering trees seem extra-brilliant this year.  Or maybe I'm appreciating them more?  Whatever, so so pretty!

Thank you for the well wishes and good thoughts after my Friday post.  I am quite happy with my new anti inflammatory drug and it's not even in full effect yet :)

How was your weekend??

  1. Beautiful spring flowers! Yay for your son setting up the swing. May be for him now, but you'll get to reap the benefits later. :-)

  3. just returned home....a week away and i feel all out of sorts, missing my blogging 'people'!!! Glad to hear the meds are helping already...and you had a fun, gentle weekend!!! My week was crazy busy with my 'water' friends...but one of our best ever get togethers. It will take me all week to catch up....and then I'm gone again. This time, though, I might have internet service! :)

  5. Hope you are feeling better and that your meds are kicking in to help...my older sister was diagnosed with RA last week and I have osteoarthritis almost everywhere it seems to I do understand. So glad you are still knitting. Enjoy the week ahead!

  7. Glad you had a great time.
We planted our summer vegetables yesterday. I wasn't in the mood but it was worth seeing the garden so beautiful.

  8. There's nothing quite as wonderful as some time spent on one's own at home. :-)

I'm glad you had such a great weekend. Ours was a mixed bag. My youngest daughter and her fiancé were here for an overnight and that was really nice, but my brother phoned to say my mom is in the hospital again, and our little miniature dachshund Jenny has been quite sick all weekend.

  9. It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend-your Saturday sounds especially enjoyable! How nice to have the free labor to put up your back yard swing. We've just been able to start using our porch swing again, and it's always a treat after winter.

  10. It sounds like you had a great weekend Karen, hooray! Alex is gone for the week and while I had all these plans to clean out closets I decided to take today and just enjoy it, tomorrow will be soon enough to tackle chores.

  11. I love to knit alone AND with pals. Glad you didn't waste the weekend with chores.
My weekend was awash of emotion. Tiny kitten came to the shelter needing a foster. I so wanted to. Fireman said NO WAY. Now I'm glad. They usually dont make it....and someone wonderful took it .

  14. that last picture is especially beautiful.
we have cherry blossoms and i think the confusing weather messed up there growth cycle.. they are blooming but the leaves are coming in simultaneously taking away from there wondrous pinkness.

  16. I'm glad to read you had a splendid time w/your houseguest. Entertaining can be stressful. Yummy ^__^ flashed through my brain when you mentioned chocolate dipped shortbread cookies. The weekend was good as you've already seen. I haven't read a book in a day for ages. I'm glad everyone left this mama alone.

  17. I'm so excited to meet another Merlin fan. It's such a great show but no one else I know has seen it. What is wrong with people?? :) Glad you had a good weekend & your garden is lovely.

  19. Oh how lovely. I love having the house to myself. We had a love long weekend, albeit a bit drippy at times. TONS of weed pulling and some knitting too, of course.

  22. I'm really enjoying this post, sounds like a great time was had by all- and lovely pictures to prove it. You were kind enough to share the fact that I was hosting a giveaway on my blog a while ago, and I know your readers popped across and left comments, so I just thought I'd let you know that I am not only hosting a giveaway every single month now (next one coming on May 1st), but also a sew-along! If you'd like to mention either I'd be thrilled, thank you :-)
