Weekends

This weekend I reclaimed the coffee table - you know what that means, our son left to go back up to Boston until he visits sometime in the summer (nothing planned as of yet). He left Saturday morning so I blitzed the house, tidied up counters and corners and righted my visual world.
We had a great week together but my, I'm tired! This extra-rainy drippy weekend was nice to hibernate and rest up. I read my book off and on, and when I wasn't reading, I was knitting away.
Today I went to Mass and we ran some errands together just the two of us. We took back roads to our destination instead of the highway. I loved seeing spring time in the rolling hills and mountains. I wonder about the people who live in the houses, are they happy? is it their dream home? etc...
There was homemade pizza (and then leftovers today!) - a carrot cake from my husband's students - dark chocolate - iced tea - bagels - salad
How was your weekend??
I hope you are all rested and enjoying the rest of the weekend. We were suppose to have rain today, but so far not a drop has fallen, I just came in from watering!
ReplyDeleteMy Alex will be home on Tuesday and I can't wait, I miss him!
Yay for Alex coming home, it's been raining every day it seems...
DeleteI know that 'catching' up....Marley visited less than 48 hours and the place was FULL of puppy toys and barricades and paper towels awaiting the next accident and muddy puppy paw marks all over the kitchen. I'm exhausted. :(
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine!!
DeleteOur Saturday was very busy. I was able to "squeeze" a 2 hour walk with friends in early in the morning, ran errands and then got ready and had Nadia's birthday party. Today was spent cleaning up, doing laundry and catching my breath.
ReplyDeletewow, that is a busy weekend! How nice you have friends that you walk with, I'd love that.
DeleteYesterday was all about running errands, but today was a beach town day ---- by that, I mean, we ate at a beach restaurant, had a cup of coffee --- read, knit....but never hit the sand.
ReplyDeleteIt was a perfect day!
your beach day sounds like perfection to me!
DeleteLove those kids but it's nice to have your space back. :)
ReplyDeleteindeed!
DeleteLook at your lilacs, the ones here don't even have leaves yet. Soon though, and I can't wait. I love taking the back roads, always more interesting.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful start to your week Karen.
I bet your lilacs will be in full force in three weeks or sooner!
DeleteOur weekend was pretty busy as we babysit the two littles while their mom and dad went to a wedding in CA. We are looking forward to a quiet evening here at home!
ReplyDeletebusy!! how nice to be able to babysit!!
DeleteA family weekend that leaves you exhilarated but exhausted. A quiet day is planned for today.
ReplyDeleteI'm all for quiet days after busy visiting :)
DeleteIt was Easter here but unfortunately I was working all weekend. There was a looooot of food, a lot of knitting and lots of hugs with my dog who was terrified by the fireworks on Saturday night.
ReplyDeletehappy Easter!! I'm lucky that frodo is not afraid of fireworks :)
DeleteThis sounds perfect! My weekend was one where I managed to get some things done around the house (though sadly you can't tell), and also managed to just relax a bit. Makes Monday a teensy bit easier to accept ...
ReplyDeleteIt seems there are always corners of my house that needs something done as well. I hope your Monday was wonderful!
DeleteSounds lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Amanda!
DeleteI love to reclaim my space! It's nice to have the kids around but getting things back to normal is a good thing. Sounds like a great weekend Karen!
ReplyDeleteI love the visiting and the reclaiming equally :)
DeleteIt sounds like a lovely weekend! Mine was busy-high school musical, university opera, a memorial for a community member-I definitely needed some naps in there. Glad you managed to reclaim parts of your house, and hopefully feel well-rested.
ReplyDeleteoh! a high school musical!! my son was the lead in Joseph and the technicolor dream coat :) :)
DeleteOh my family loves Carrot cakes.
ReplyDeleteIt rained here too. I volunteered at the animal shelter desk answering phones. Always a trip.
"Ducklings down the storm drain.....who do we call?
Answer: the fire dept will rescue them.
Knitting socks

DeleteSlowing down and getting rest is a must. How cool your husband's students gave him a carrot cake! I need to pick up small, teacher appreciation gifts for the girls' teachers and I was thinking of a little something for the crossing guard too.
ReplyDeleteyou are so sweet to give all those gifts!!
DeleteOh sounds lovely. My whole house needs reclaiming! I did manage to get the tomatoes planted and lots of yard work was accomplished! Joy!
ReplyDeleteMy weekend was a lot like yours. Rainy weather and getting things into order.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little tired of the rain...
DeleteThe weekend was a bit off here, as Steve had to work for a good chunk of it. But, Sunday was nice and we spent the afternoon just doing "nothing" and it was so nice! Your photos are gorgeous!
ReplyDeletethank you! bummer about a work weekend....hopefully next weekend will be free??
DeleteWhat a lovely weekend you had, Karen! Ours was a mix of good busy and chillin'. We got to spend time with my extended family on Saturday and then on Sunday we just relaxed; read the paper, played a game, watched T.V. It was much needed! xx
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good time!
ReplyDeleteAny weekend with cake and pizza has to be good! Hope your week is going just as well xx
