Hello!  Another weekend here and I had a great one!

Friday found me sitting in a bicycle shop while my husband test drove (rode?) various bikes in stock.  I said each one was nice if asked.  I behaved since I had a book to read in my lap, you know, everyone should have a novel and some knitting in their tote, just saying, it helps pass the time when you are not interested in bike shopping.  However, I have learned a lot about bikes passively.  I wonder how much he has learned passively about knitting?

my santa barbara yarn buy!
Saturday found me sitting in another bike shop reading the same book...honestly I think I know how he feels when he is sitting outside a yarn shop.  Let's be honest, knitting stores are WAY more exciting than bike stores.

Seriously though, it was nice to be home and doing nothing exciting and enjoying the nothing - we are back to the two of us, a quiet house and its nice to be back to regular life.  I love sitting in my kitchen early in the morning drinking my coffee thinking these thoughts.  I find when I travel and come home, I have a new appreciation and awareness to the life I am living.

Today was church and solving a sudoku puzzle and a crossword puzzle.  Doing those remind me of my mom who advanced to doing the NY Times puzzle in INK.  I believe in mistakes and erasing so I use a mechanical pencil, but I do admire her smartness and sureness in an answer!

I did knit a little bit yesterday and plan to knit a little bit today.
wool snarls, oops!  Purl soho line weight

Oh and before I forget, my husband made curry for dinner (that means I did not cook!) and the house smelled even homier than ever before :)

How was your weekend??

P.S.  I am feeling better (again) and than you all for the well wishes.  I have the best doctor ever and I am confident that we are on the right treatment path :)

  2. Oh such gorgeous yarn you bought. Hmmm...at one time I frequented bike shops a lot...weekly. I have moved on to yarn shops now :)

  3. My reading, my knitting and my music are ALWAYS with me. It makes waiting tolerable!

I'm guessing my husband has learned quite a bit about cross stitching and knitting. How to play with a kitty without slash wounds ......not so much. He has NOT learned to avoid the CLAW!

  8. Silly, but I henna'd my hair because I'm leaving tomorrow night for the East to see my oldest graduate from college next weekend. I like to pretend I'm having a Spa day, which works a bit better when I don't have a husband and daughter make comments, but I ran out of time to do it. I love being home, but I will be in a little cabin I spent summers in in the Adirondack Mountains. I get a few days to read and knit before my family descends. My hubby stays here to see my 8th grader graduate. Both close to the same time. Oh well. I get to see my lovely daughter, I haven't seen since last year and my second oldest son is trying (during finals week) to join us from Maine. I love seeing my kids! Lovely blog! I love your thoughts and writing. Check my blog out- lovelyyarnescapes.blogspot.com

  9. I always cherish the first few days home after I've traveled. I have to say, I'm fond of both yarn stores and bike stores, but I'm glad you had your book handy :)

  11. So glad you are feeling better! Also glad your husband makes curry! What will that Santa Barbara yarn become?

  12. I always have something to knit/crochet and a book in my tote! It has helped me through so many waiting hours when my kids are taking their dancing lessons.

  18. great souvenir from your trip!!! :) glad you're back on track health-wise....and such wise words to live by: never leave home without a good book and some knitting!

  19. We are very alike with cycling husbands and knitting. I LOVE that color yarn. Im yearning for an ordinary day so I'll just insist on one!

  20. What is it about routine and being back to normal? Sigh. :) I'm sure that we'll be ready for it after our upcoming trip...three weeks away from home will be plenty, thank you. Glad you are feeling better, and when I have time, I'll surely skim through your older posts and find out just what was troubling you. In the meanwhile, we had a fairly quite weekend, and I'm happy to repor that I feel rested and ready to tackle the new week and all the to-dos that await me. Thanks so much for hosting, dear Karen. xo :)

  21. I would not dare get in the car with my husband without knitting and my Kindle. He is a lumber shopper. Lumber! Even on date night, he'll decide he needs to browse Home Depot. And you know how knitters will 'pet' the yarn and appreciate the yarn fumes in a yarn shop? Well, Dear Deranged Hubby does the same thing with lumber. Thankfully, most lumber stores also sell either lawn furniture or lawn mowers which provide fairly comfortable seating while I wait.

  22. Isn't it nice to be home! Like you, I treasure my morning coffee time.
I'm glad you're feeling better. Your trip looks so awesome. Once kids graduate from high school and go off, it is extra special to be together.
My husband loves to bike shop, too. Even though I am a rider, I don't find bike shopping very interesting. I have to admit that he is more patient with my yarn shopping!

  23. What a great weekend you had! We did as well. We went hiking on Saturday and on Sunday went to a movie and did some gardening. We were supposed to go to Cape Cod but that got postponed until summer so we didn't tell anyone we were home and just spent time together. : )

  24. Your weekend sounds great. Yeah, except sitting at the bike shop! LOL. Our weekend was busy but yesterday I rested, knitted, read... I look forward to it being just me and my dear hubby again. Our youngest will graduate and leave for the military (fingers crossed) next summer. Then the middle daughter will have one more year of college. {{sigh}} I love them dearly but we have worked our entire lives for our children and it's wonderful that soon they will be independent from us! :)
Can't wait to see what you do with these yarn choices.

  25. Love your SB yarn! The line wt. is pretty, too. Sounds like a nice weekend. We kept busy somehow and spent lots of time in the yard.

  26. Sounds like a lovely quiet weekend. I am looking forward to one of those at the end of this week!

  27. Such very pretty yarn. I had to laugh at your comparison of the bike shop to the yarn shop! So true, I'm sure!

  28. It has been a while since I shared an weekending post! I like what your weekend looked like.

  29. Look at the color theme in that first photo! I will have to see what you end up doing with your Santa Barbara yarn!
I slowed down this weekend. That was great. But I'm ready for the next one!

  30. Glad you're feeling better. Do be vocal about this line weight. It looks so soft and reminds me of the Mini Mochi my mum got me. I love the Santa Barbara yarn you picked up. I don't know why we didn't look for a yarn store when we were down there.
