Hermione's Socks Complete

Have you knit Hermione's Everyday socks?  I think everyone has but me, well until now!!  I had a delightful time knitting these up.  I loved the simple texture pattern and the sense of accomplishment as I finished each step.

The heel flap is a new to me experience and I loved the slipped stitches along with the garter edge.  However, I like my own sock recipe better, the fit is perfection and these pair of socks are sort of loosey goosey around my skinny ankles and feet (I have skinny ankles and narrow feet, not the normal foot at all).  So I think it's me and not the pattern :)

I had a burning desire to do a contrast heel and toe.  I love the way the sock looks, I feel stylish!

  1. love these :) I made a very garish pair in some multicoloured yarn but I fancy making another pair in a solid or semi solid colour. Like your contrasting heels and toes, might steal that idea lol

  3. Love them! I haven't knit this pattern yet either, but was just looking at it a few days ago and considering it for my next try at socks. I'm very grateful you shared about having thin ankles/feet - my son and I both have narrow feet and thin ankles/lower legs and my first pair of socks is too big all over, even knit in "my" size. I only wear them at home on cold days when I can bear that extra material sliding around on me, which isn't anywhere near as fun as going out places with my friends and having someone ask if I knit those socks. ;)

  4. I've made these as well, but I like you version with the alternate heels and toes better. And I just used my usual heel recipe when I knit mine.

  11. I love the color combination. Hermione's sock pattern is such a grateful pattern, it can be knit in so many ways, monocolored yarn, variegated yarn, contrasting heels and toes. Yours look splendid!

  14. Wow! I've never knit Hermione's socks. I've seen 100's of photos of them & have always felt sort of 'Meh" about them. But your socks.... something about them is making me want to go knit a pair.
