Currently on the Needles

Hello! My knitting this week has had slow but steady progress.  Last week, we moved our son from Boston to State College PA and my knitting time was minimal.  I was too busy bemoaning the hot and humid weather and no air conditioning at either apartment.  Sigh, it's a personality flaw of mine, to complain about something I am unable to change.

This week is different, I'm in my home and I've been diligently working on both of the above projects.  My socks should be done this week and so will my antarktis shawl.  The big question is, what will I cast on next?  Ah, the possibilities.

My reading is the same as well.  I am loving this novel and the way it mingles truth with fantasy as a child navigates through the loss of her grandmother.  It's not a sad book at all.  Can't wait to see what happens!

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  2. That is a happy-making display of knitting and reading! I love the color of your Antarktis and the knitted socks look surprisingly different than I would have guessed from the skein. Hurry up fall!

  3. I finished my shawl over the weekend and cast on a hat, mostly because it is too hot to start on the sleeves of my sweater. And maybe because I am nervous about those sleeves!

  4. I've been whining about the heat just as much, so don't feel bad. Very ready for cooler autumn temps. That book sounds fascinating!

  5. isn't it nice that we have the heat to complain about!?! I'm adding the rain to my complaints this week....which makes us even more humid than I thought possible! Good reason to stay inside and knit!!!

  7. So nice to be back in the world of a.c., isn't it? Thankfully, if we open the house at night the house stays pretty cool all day, but then we don't have your humidity out here in the PNW. Supposed to be HOT here (pushing 100) this weekend. YUCK. Will likely turn the AC on...

  8. Just had to comment, again, on how much I love the color of your Antarktis. Also, you're welcome to join me - I've decided to move to Alaska or maybe the North Pole, which ever is the least humid.

  14. As soon as I start to complain about this heat, I remember -13F windchill in January. I'll take heat any day! You don't have to shovel heat.

Also loving your knitting. That shawl pattern is divine.

  16. Love that green. I'm deeper into Jane Steele, almost halfway. Been fighting a bug so bought some generic Therflu and after I picked up the tween from academy, I made them organic ramen, ate a bit, took my meds, and slept for 2 hours. I feel so much better. Knitting my Wool & Company and Revellenic Beanie. I need to start the second round of Christmas socks.

  19. We have had a few days of heat, after a few weeks of very cool, but it is not going to last and is definitely not a/c kind of heat! But I have enjoyed it all the same :). You knit up so fast, I am much more of a plodder although my current project has a deadline..........love the colour of your shawl.

  20. We don't have AC either, so I feel your / your son's pain! It's not been a good summer for city apartments.
I love that "what to cast on next" feeling (even though it usually involves ignoring a languishing stack of WIPs!)

  21. The colors in your socks are so cheerful!

  22. Can't imagine what it is like to live in a place where you need a/c. Hot days here are so few we try to make the most of them. This week I have been sitting in the garden crocheting a cushion and seat covers for my daughter's bedroom :)
