Currently on the Needles

Good morning!

Once again it's time to share what I am knitting this past week.

My shawl (brown) is coming along nicely - I have two more repeats until I get to the juicy leaf knitting.  I hope I have enough yarn - I think I'll be okay.  I think...

My yellow shawl (dandelion daze shawl) is making steady significant progress.  I'm trying to do a repeat a day, sometimes two repeats.  I'm over half way with the knitting and I'm going until the skein is nearly done.

Even though it's hot outside, inside my house is fall. I pulled out the fall decorations and when I look out the window the leaves are changing.  One more week of hot temperatures and maybe Mother Nature will get on board with me.  I can hope.

Onto my reading :

I'm reading two books, first off is The Lake House, I am thoroughly enjoying this book.  I have to confess, I've liked everything she has written, so I'm biased.  This book is my evening book to read.  During the day in the afternoon right before I start cooking dinner, I read a bit of The Once and Future King.  I love the narration but there are bits that are slow going for me.  Overall though it's easier to read than I thought and more interesting that I thought.  I really shouldn't judge books until after I read them...

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  1. I love the fall colors of your knitting and the fact that you've got fall inside even though the weather is still hot and humid outside. I hope Mother Nature gets the hint!

  2. I finished silver leaf before we left but it's been so crazy lately I haven't had a chance to take its finished photo let alone blog about it!!! I squeezed in (hardly the case...definitely a planned stop!) a yarn shop visit yesterday and stayed awhile to knit. Nice afternoon while hubby had meetings. Finally home later today!! Phew. Off to the zoo this morning while he meets to do my "homework" for class tonight!! 😎 Had to laugh again---I got out my fall decorations too before we left. I was dripping sweat it was so beastly in the attic but it's September and I just HAD to do it!!

  3. I know I should be used to it, but I am still offended by extreme summer weather after Labor Day. I really take it personally ...

Your brown shawl is looking nice - the color makes it look very cozy. :-)

  5. I am just rows away from finishing my second Antarktis and looking forward to a mystery shawl that starts on the 12th! It is cooling down a bit here and of course there is rain. Looking forward to sweaters and boots. I love that brown yarn.

  6. It has turned unbearably hot here this week, hoping it will cool off by the weekend. I enjoyed reading The Lake House and I read The Once & Future King so many years ago that it's hard to remember much about it...I think I read it because I loved Camelot! And, your shawls are beautiful!

  12. Would love to know what you think about The Once and Future King when you are finished with it. Looks really good.
Fall is my favorite season so soon I will be making it feel like fall in our home as well. (like maybe in the next week).

  13. I read Kate's Forgotten Garden and like it, but never read the next in the series. Your Dandelion shawl looks elegant!

  14. I so wish that fall was coming to visit me soon too. I have my fall decor out, but it's not helping Mother Nature to get on board with cooler weather.

Knitting: Still my Coziest Memory Shawl and I cast on for a pair of River Rapids socks. I'm thinking there might also be a fall inspired pair of socks cast on very, VERY soon.

Reading: My Southern Journey by Rick Bragg. Yes ---- STILL. I must be the slowest reader in the world. I am truly savoring this book though. I don't want it to end too quickly.

  16. Lovely photo! I read "The Lake House" last year and really enjoyed it! I also loved "The Secret Keeper," and "The Forgotten Garden" is on my must-read-in-2016 list. I'm jealous of your changing leaves! I know I'm going to be pining for fall now that we're back in Hawaii for another three years. I'm going to get my fall decorations out this week and autumn-ify the house!

  17. Fingers crossed for your yarn to last and last until the final stitch! We're not even close to embracing fall...I still have hanging baskets in bloom on the front and back porches and the garden is still producing. There are two wee pie pumpkins turning a bright orange, though, so I know fall is knocking. :) xo

  18. I just finished The Martian and I'm so happy that I read it. Lots of laughing out loud moments, the characterization was perfect in the film! -Sierra

  19. I'm working on sewing together a sweater that I finally finished. It has been a UFO for a long time and became my Olympics project. I still have another sweater waiting to be sewn up; why is that step so easy to put off? I'm about to start X by Sue Grafton and just finished A Walk in the Woods which convinced me that hiking the Appalachian Trail is not for me!
