my cowl pattern - balancing act cowl

Hello!  How are you?  This weekend has been the weather weekend I've been dreaming about all summer long.  Finally FINALLY the humidity is down, there's a chill in the air.  The morning and nights are brisk.  Hopefully it's here to stay but I'm okay for a fickle beginning to the cold weather.

I wore a jacket on my walk.  That is my big news and only in a few more weeks I'll be wearing some wool, baby steps and all in good time.  I will be patient.

there was a butterfly on the flower but I scared it away....

How was your weekend?  My Friday night started slippery, after my "big windows update" that led to a big internal mental meltdown in the morning.  Once I start with an upset state of mind, I lead with it for quite some time.  After dinner out with my husband, chatting and of course some serious chocolate cake, I was once again happy.

Saturday, we went to visit our son at Penn State for a lunch out and a walk about the town.  We saw his department building and his office.  The weather was wonderful and being in the college football town during an away game is kind of cozy.  Nearly everyone is sporting the blue and gray colors in some way!  I did not take a single photo and enjoyed being unplugged and in the moment.  We had a fun time together.

an out take!!  I found this after the non butterfly shot.
Today we attended Mass and I had knitting with my buddies. My allergies are acting up (I hope it's allergies!).  So my hot tea is waiting for me once this is published.

I'm looking forward to read about your weekends.

  1. Please your weather's siblings over here to the East Bay to cool us down. We are suffering with 97°. We won't have relief until Wednesday. It is nice to be unplugged sometimes. I'm glad a yummy dinner and chocolate cake brought your spirits up and neutralized your upset.

  2. The weather here is finally just perfect too! I am so happy for low humidity because my hair isn't wild and crazy as soon as I step outside. We sometimes visit the Naval Academy (where my husband attended) on away football weekends and it is really nice and quiet! We had a lovely weekend and fun with family.

  3. Sounds like a great weekend. It is nice now that the weather is cooling off. Our weekend was crazy busy since our son is coming home from Mexico next week. I am a perfectionist and there is so much to do to get ready. Hope your week goes well.

  4. Sounds like you had a very relaxing weekend! The weather here was perfect as well, very sunny but indeed without the humidity and there was a cool breeze in the air. We had some friends over for a barbecue and other than that I was knitting like crazy.

  7. I hope your allergies are getting better! I had a very quiet weekend - binge knitting, watching movies and eating out at a small Italian restaurant downtown (way too much pizza for me) :)

  13. What a lovely weekend, Karen! Being unplugged and in the moment is such a good thing, we are so connected to gadgets it's great to break free sometimes. Yes to chocolate cake, what's a weekend without cake!

My weekend included working on my town's first carnival parade which was absolutely awesome and then Sunday was a walk to my Dad's and time with family.

Wishing you a fantastic week of cool temps and no allergies xx

  14. I hope you stopped by the creamery during your visit, Karen! : ) There is nothing like a scoop of Penn State ice cream on a crisp autumn day!
