Frodo says "hi"
 How was your weekend?

Our son left on Saturday morning and I promptly cleaned the house.  Ah, it feels so good to be neat and tidy.  January is all about freshness for the brand new year.

clean coffee table!
I became quite creative in meal planning since I need to go to the grocery store (but didn't).  So I've been diving into the freezer for some forgotten meals to heat up quickly.  Of course there was curry!

Yesterday I stayed home, read some, knitted some, listened to podcasts that I am three weeks behind! I've planned out this week what I'd love to accomplish.  In the afternoon, I met up with my friends for some much needed knitting time together.

my aunt painted this bottle found on my dad's property :)
Today is the first day in three weeks I'll be all alone without company.  I loved having everyone here and celebrating the holidays but now it's time to return to regular life :)

New year's cactus!
 How was your weekend??

  1. I'm glad you get to enjoy the best of both worlds - a house full of company and the lovely quiet of being alone. I'm finally learning that planning my week more thoroughly really helps me to accomplish what I want to instead of letting time slip through my fingers. Enjoy your clean and neat house!

  2. Always nice to get back to usual routines and a tidy home after visitors. The quiet is always nice when we have had the Grandchildren, although at the time I love their chatter and laughter.

  5. Your painted bottle is beautiful! I'm envious of your clean and tidy home...I'm not there yet...still need to get the Christmas things put away. And your cactus is budded - wonderful. I would love to see a bud on mine.

  7. My weekend involved naps on the couch, Kleenex, and lots of tea. I am off to the doctor today to see if I can kick this thing.

  8. Isn't that first day alone wonderful. Today is MY first day all by myself in the apartment. Well, Giroux is here, but I think even HE is enjoying the quiet.

I am almost done all the housework and January freshening. Then it's going to be read, knit and have a cup of tea.

I ♥ podcasts! Which ones do you watch.

    1. I don't watch I listen :) Just audio for now, so I can knit. I listen to the knitmore girls, 2knitlit chicks, yarniacs, what should I read next, twinset designs. I think there's more but that's off the top of my head.

  10. It's always kind of nice once the company leaves and life returns to normal. Our house got a thorough cleaning this weekend and it felt so good! I still have my oldest home, but she leaves tomorrow for her new life in London and then our youngest is returning from vacation on Sunday to be with us for one more week before returning to Iraq. I feel as if the holiday has been extended for MONTHS, LOL! Have you ever read the Inspector Ganache series from Louise Penny? I gave the first three to my daughter and mother for Christmas and have been reading Mom's cast offs...they are so good!

  11. Saturday we painted the living room. It was very very cold out. I knitted. I am still adjusting to the quiet month of January. We had so much fun with family in December. I MISS THEM. The cats are cozy though and the birds outside are busy feeding. I enjoy watching them.

  13. I can feel the calm descending upon you. How lovely. This is when grocery delivery service is a good option!

  14. It's funny... part of me loves the clean look after-the-holidays... part of me misses the "fullness" through the house... with both loved ones and decorations. It is definitely more SERENE after the un-decorating. It was very cold (for us) this past weekend. We went to the movies (RARE for us). I did get some knitting done on my repeat shawl! ;) blessings ~ tanna

  15. I love the post-holiday clean up as well! Not quite as much as the pre-holiday decorating, but it feels good to start fresh :)
