June Visions and Goals

Ah, June.  June is the month that welcomes lots of blooms.  Jackets are tucked away in the closet and instead, sandals are dusted off.  I love that the mornings are chilly and the afternoons are warm and toasty.  June is beautiful.

I know, you're saying 'wait a minute, she likes winter'.  Yes, you are correct - winter is my favorite season of all.  Going through all the seasons makes my love of winter that much better.  While I'm in my glory during the winter months, my summer loving husband is sad and grumpy.  It's only fair in this marriage that he be happy rejoicing in the longer days and the warm weather.

Don't be fooled, I complain way more than he does.  He has endless patience waiting in a yarn store than I do waiting in a bike store.  I admire that.  The truth is, everyone knows yarn is better than bikes.

Yesterday, I walked around the property with my camera and Frodo documenting this wonderful month.  The spirea are my favorite with their lace like blooms.  Our yard needs a lot of work, weed pulling and such.  I cannot do it because of my RA but my husband can.  It's on his to do list that I wrote.  Lucky for me he likes to garden.

After all of the household chores I need to finish, I'll be sitting outside on the swing doing what I love most.  Reading and knitting and maybe at the same time.  I hope to finish one shawl project and one book (maybe two!).

My goals for this summer season are simple -  Read more, knit more and be present in the NOW.  Do you have summer goals?  What are they?

  1. Definitely reading more (Book Bingo!!) and knitting more. I love being more present in the moment NOW - thanks for that reminder.

  2. I moved to east central Illinois from upstate NY 11 years ago and I just dread the long, hot summers in this part of the country...I am a wimp when the temperature goes much above 85! My goal this summer is to get myself outside every day in spite of the heat and humidity. It has been nice so far this year, but temps in the 90s are forecast for the next week and beyond. Like you, I want to read, knit, garden, and enjoy time with family & friends.

    1. I am with you! This weather is the worst for my RA and being outside for any length makes me miserable. I still try to get out anyways :)

  4. My goals are much the same as yours, and I'm wishing I had more help with our yard work and gardening so I could steal more reading and knitting time. I love your take on equity in marriage. I knit while John fishes as that's the only way I could have enough patience to go along; everyone also knows that yarn is better than fish. Gorgeous June photos!

  5. Like you, I love winter best. Still, there are things I love about summer - especially since I'm a teacher! The long daylight stretches, knitting outside, reading outside, drawing outside. It's all good! I

  6. Great goals. I have a whole list this summer I think it will be about prioritizing them rather than doing them all. Have a great weekend.

  8. I really like this and have done something similar each month. Although my own list is perhaps a task list blended with some larger goals (like be a good mom). I love your approach here. And of course we share some similar goals. Love to you.

  9. Yes, yes, my goals are going to be much the same come July 14th. AND they'll include having a puppy by summers end. Love seeing Frodo and your beautiful yard. May your summer be full of relaxation and joy!

  10. I think your goals are perfect, Karen! Mine are similar, just swap out knitting for painting. : ) I just returned from Squam and being around all those prolific knitters for four days renewed my determination to finally master knitting...sigh! Maybe this year I'll succeed! xo
