Weekends

I've been focusing on my shawl this weekend since I finished the baby dress (yay!).  I keep knitting even though my doubts still exist.  Honestly, I'll know when I get to the lace section.  Garter stitch is a fickle area for me to assess.  I know that blocking will change how it looks and I love how it stretches out.

This morning we went to the urgent care clinic for my husband who was stung by wasps in three areas of his foot yesterday morning.  His foot was swollen and I knew he needed predinsone.  Once the weekday starts up after the fourth, we'll message his doctor about the localized allergic reaction and possible precautionary medicines.  (He is feeling much better after one dose)

On Friday, we went out to dinner and I was underwhelmed so much so that we are going to try to eat at home throughout the month of July.  I am an excellent cook and so his my husband - also, I find no spending challenges fun.  A no spending challenge will help fund that pesky new pool liner.

Since our morning was topsy turvy, I'm still doing the laundry.  My knitting and book reading await!
How was your weekend?

  1. I had a similar reaction to wasp stings once. Hope he is okay. Your shawl is so sunny and cheery!

  2. I'm so sorry he got stung three times. Ouchie! Wasps are vicious. I'm glad he got some doctor attention and hope he is on the mend this weekend.

  3. Oh dear, wasp stings can really derail you! I hope all will be fine. Your shawl is looking pretty, I think - the colors are nice and summery.

  4. I hope your husband is feeling OK. My son once disturbed a nest of wasps. As you can imagine, that necessitated a trip to the ER!
Eating out can be under-whelming. We tend to cook most of the time.

  5. I'm sorry about the wasp stings but glad it wasn't worse and that your husband is feeling better. Here's to catching up with laundry and getting to the good stuff - knitting and reading. I hope we get to see a finished shot of your sweet pink dress and I hope it fits!

  7. Oush. Wasp stings are so painful! I hope he is feeling better. We have been camping this weekend and tried to go for a hike, but had to give up halfway there due to mosquitoes... All of us got so many bites it was horrible :( But there has been some knitting, so all in all it has been a good weekend :)

  8. Yikes - wasp stings are scary; glad your husband responded so quickly to the steroids. I think your shawl is going to wonderful - of course I am a huge fan of white and gold :-)

  9. Well wishes for the mister, it sounds very painful... !

  10. Glad you got those stinging wounds calmed down with a steroid. I think it so wise that you have aplan for the next time it happens. Then maybe it won't! We like simple meals at home in the summer. Grilling brats, burgers, shish ka bob, chicken. Dinner out gets very pricey . Cheap carry in works well for us too: Potbelly sandwiches, a pizza, Salads from the Grocery deli. Good luck with your goal!

  11. So sorry to hear about your husband, three times is no joke it must be painful. Barbeques can be a nice and relaxing way of eating in and such a fun way of cooking.

  12. thank goodness that was a localized reaction only....with a beehive now outside my window, i'm wondering how long before i'm stung. so far my bees have been very docile and let me weed right around their hive. new pens for the journal?!? hip hip hooray!

  13. Wasp stings are nasty! I'm glad your husband's reaction improved with the prednisone. Enjoy your reading & knitting...I like the colors of your shawl!

  14. Busy weekend for you love. Happy to hear that the prednisone helped. That is not a great situation.
Looking forward to hearing what you create with the no spending challenge as I find I am most creative when "forced" to.
    Beautiful knitting...always!

  15. That's too bad your husband got stung by a swarm of wasps! I am always worried I will get stung when I see one. That is great you finished the baby dress and your shawl is coming along well! I had a good weekend, I went to Montreal with my family and visited family friends and went to old Montreal it was so nice even though the weather was not and it was raining a lot.

  16. I hope your hubby is on the mend. The shawl looks pretty in the photos. We hosted three couples on Friday evening for an early 4th of July annual picnic. It is some work to get the house, yard, table, and some of the food ready but it is always a nice evening. The good news is we had leftovers for the weekend and the house is reasonably clean.

  17. I'm sorry to hear about your husband's connection with the bee. It certainly sounds painful...especially with it being on the foot!

Your challenge for the month does sound like fun. I just talked us out of going to an estate sale about half an hour ago! :) As you may (or may not) know, I do love estate sales and auctions. haha
