Gift Knitting and Celebrating

Ah, September how I have been waiting for you!  This is the month where the weather changes and so do the daily walks.  Already the leaves are changing, truly Autumn is a glorious season in my eyes.

Thank you so much for the lovely comments on my white out shawl.  I plan on keeping this beautiful knit for me.  I use metal needles for my interchangeable sets, so yes, the shawl was knit with metal needles -  I do not have problems with controlling the stitches while on circular needles.

I use wooden needles when I am working on double pointed needles but it's mainly for hand comfort.   I actually would knit with metal all the time but metal dpns make my hands ache, I think I'm too aggressive.

I wound up some wool yesterday to kick off the holiday knitting.  Right this second, I'm planning on hats, but I could change my mind if I tire of hat knitting.  I have a few ideas of what patterns to use, I'm still in the thinking stages of these gifts.  The projects will start flying off the needles now that I'll be using only one or two skeins of wool per project.

We celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary earlier this week.  (yay!) All day we joked about how LONG the thirty years were.  Honestly, where does the time go?  It seems like yesterday we were planning a wedding in three months time so that his one brother could attend the ceremony before he was deployed for a six month assignment.

We had a small wedding (40 people including the wedding party) and nearly all of them were relatives.  If I had to do it all over again, I'd still have a small wedding.

Have you started any gift knitting yet?  If so what?

  3. Hi Karen

Thank you SO much for the comment you left me, it appears that might have been the issue. I am SO thankful to you! I have left a comment for you on my blog and for others to read and I will do a post about it so that others know too. I really appreciate you letting me know that, I had no idea it was there or that it was (probably) the "cause" of the issue. THANK YOU!!!

  5. Happy Anniversary! Good hat plan. What is your favorite hat pattern for perfect fit? Mine is one with negative ease and I cant remember the name right now. I want to knit more fingerless for Christmas gifts. I have some done, some to go

  6. Happy Anniversary, wishing you both many more happy years together. I have started a few bits and pieces for the children but this year will be shop bought gifts as we will be away in the US for 3 weeks and then a trip around the family so we plan to be away for about 6 weeks.

  13. Happy Anniversary! 30 years is a big deal. There's not going to be any holiday crafting here this year, except for a little cross-stitch that is almost done. My Autumn is just going to be too busy. Enjoy knitting that beautiful yarn.

  14. Happy anniversary. A 30-year marriage is something to be proud of! My first marriage only when for 11 years, and I'll always feel bad about that -- although, my second marriage is much happier! Keith and I joke that we don't want to be married for 50 years -- we'd be way too old!

  15. Happy Anniversary! We are in between 24 and 25. Evidently he has some thoughts about where we will go next year for 25, I can't wait to find out! I am doing sewing gifts this year, so much quicker!! And with all the stash I am adding, I need to sew it up!

  16. Happy Anniversary! that is wonderful that after 30 years together it feels like just yesterday. #Relationshipgoals :P I love September too with the changing leaves, the colder temperatures, sweater weather. This year I started knitting socks for my mom, I might make the exact same socks for my boyfriend too. I am still thinking on what to make for my dad and sister. It is a fun time of year, so much planning and excitement.
