Weekends

third hat progress

How are you?  How is your weekend so far?  Mine was quite nice and I've got a few more hours before it's over.  The temperatures are dropping so hopefully I'll be wearing some wool knits this week.  A knitter can dream.

Yesterday we visited our son and had lunch out at a Thai restaurant.  I never knew I liked Thai food as much as I do.  I love the veggies.  We walked a bit around the town and I purchased some new gel pens for making gift tags (white, silver and gold).  I'm pretty excited about this - last Christmas my sister gifted me the ingredients to make the tags - card stock, washi tape, etc..

We visited an Indian grocery store to stock up on some supplies then headed home.  My back was not happy on the ride home at all, but Tylenol helps.

son in law's sweater progress

Today I had some time to knit and make some progress on the third hat which just might be finished tonight - I'd like to be finished soon.  I will been looking for another hat pattern to cast on.  I've got a few in mind but haven't decided yet.  I'm on a hat knitting streak :)

One of my knitting friends came over this afternoon and we talked and knitted - I do love knitting get togethers very much.  Kindred spirits unite!

Dinner today was easy-peasy, I pulled out leftovers from the freezer.  Within minutes I heated up curry, rice and dal.  Delicious and speedy.  The kitchen is cleaned up and I'm already sipping my tea.  Possibly, a Dr. Who episode might be paired with the hat knitting marathon.

How as your weekend?

  1. Pad thai is my favorite! I love how heathery that purple yarn is, and your son-in-law's sweater is also a gorgeous color. I do hope your back behaves this week.

  4. I cooked a big pan of potato and cauliflower curry over the weekend and have frozen the leftovers so that will be a nice easy meal one day too. Nice purple cables on your hat - I've yet to attempt cables - but maybe one day I'll be brave. Such a cute pup in that last picture! It sounds like you had a lovely weekend. x

  6. We don't have many good restaurants in our small college town, just a lot of fast food places, but we do have a very good little Thai restaurant and I just love it. My favorites are the red curry and the soups. Enjoy your week!

  10. I do believe it's finally fall here. It's getting very cold now. So, it was the perfect weekend to knit and crochet. I have 3 things in progress for Christmas gifts, and I do believe they will get done!

It looks like your son-in-law's sweater is coming along nicely! :-)

  14. Your weekend sounds lovely, Karen. We stayed in Friday night. Saturday was spent at home...paperwork and baking for me and odd jobs around the property kept the mister busy. Saturday evening we went out to eat. Sunday was church and relaxing.

  15. Mine was filled with a mysterious malady that is still plaguing me so calling the Dr today. So I have done no sewing, little to no blog reading, and mostly just slept or laid around. Hate being unmotivated!

  16. Our weekend was great on Sunday. We hiked 3 miles and it was sunny out. Saturday was sort of gloomy. THere was this family of origin issue with my father that made me sad. I thought quite a bit about my mom. and I missed her . But Sunday was much better. I log cabin knitted and did some yarn buying Sunday. SO THAT HELPED!

  20. Is dal prepared like lentils. I always see it at our Costco. I'm sorry your back still hurts. I haven't had Thai for ages! I think mostly because many of its dishes contains peanuts and Jellybean can't eat that. That heathered purple is wonderful. I love it.
Oh yes, I do love mushrooms. I love its earthiness. 3/4 of us like mushrooms. I guess I'll leave it out of the curry next time. Jellybean is spoiled.
