Weekends

How is your weekend?  Or should I say, how was your weekend?  Well, mine was pretty nice.  I love December and so far this weather is good, I'd like some snow but I can't have everything all at once.  I achieved a lot and marked off the many tasks that needed to be done that accumulated over the week.

Yesterday, I read blogs and became current in your lives.  I also squeezed in some time to do some book reading and relaxing.  I am reading the Hunger Games trilogy to finish off my reading year.  My son thinks I'll love them and he is usually right.  He is a good book recommender for me.  I am not a good book recommender to him.  I wonder why?

I had a lovely evening watching an episode of Dr Who and knitting away on some simple stockinette projects.  It's the only way to get through the boring knitting (except reading while knitting).

After 7:30 a.m. Mass, I went grocery shopping because I cannot figure where I can go during the week.  Even though my schedule is full, I'm happy and content with the busy.  Once lunch was done, my husband and I went for our walk with Frodo.  I've completed four weeks with the personal trainer and I feel stronger.  This has been an interesting journey and I cannot wait to see my RA doctor tomorrow to tell him all about it (just a check up, nothing major).  My husband and I were discussing how this is the most fit we have ever been.

While blasting Christmas music this afternoon, I wrote out some Christmas cards and hummed along as my husband prepared a curry dinner.  I love having time off in the kitchen.  I did do the dishes though, he still is restricted with water immersion a few weeks since having the stitches out on Friday.

As you can guess, right now I'm drinking my tea and finishing up the laundry.  Just think in a few weeks my house will be filled - I'm excited!

How was your weekend?

  1. The weather this weekend favors walking - 60 degrees in December is hard not to enjoy. I got groceries yesterday and made a nice dinner. Today - church, coffee, and then got out a few Christmas things. Slowly slowly the season comes.

  2. Our town had it’s annual Christmas craft show. It’s one of my favorite places to look for gifts. The rest of the weekend was a combination of doing chores and doing fun things. It was a very nice weekend.

  3. It was unseasonably warm here this weekend, but we enjoyed it...Christmas tree hunting in the woods. There was a little work, a little Christmas shopping and lots of down time, which was much needed. I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend Karen. Have a beautiful week.

  6. I've read the Hunger Games books twice and also saw all the movies. My oldest grandson recommends books and movies to me. I've read three books and made hubby some big socks for sleeping in the last few weeks because I had a cold. The knitting kept me sane. HA!

  7. Loved the Hunger Games trilogy! Kudos to you and hubby for your fitness commitment! I know your Dr. will be pleased. We had the Little Men & Co. as a stay over from visiting with Jerry's family. Love getting to be "bed and breakfast" for their travels. LOL! Always a good visit with my grandsons. Alex is always up by 5:30 so we get in a good visit before anyone else has even stirred! Have a great week, Karen. blessings ~ tanna

  8. What a lovely weekend! I meant to knit for much of the weekend, but outside chores were still clamoring for attention (Brussels sprouts and leaves). I hope to speed through inside chores and work today and devote a good chunk of time to knitting. I spy buds on your Christmas cactus and my sister and I had those same Santa mugs!

  9. Your weekend sounds like it was so nice. I had a very busy one, but it was all good. I sing with the Oratorio Society at the local university and this was our concert weekend, which meant a three hour dress rehearsal Saturday afternoon with about 200 musicians, choir & symphony, on stage for most of that time. Our concert was yesterday afternoon and we performed to a sold out house! Singing all of that beautiful music has really put me in the Christmas spirit!

  11. I loved the Hunger Games, although I didn't care for the last book of the series. I may have just been burned out on reading though. Sadly, that happens to me occasionally. Glad your husband got his stitches out & all seems right in your world.

  15. It sounds like you had a great weekend getting things done and knitting. That is great you feel good and the workouts are paying off. It does feel good to get momentum going at the gym and exercising regularly, I need to get on a schedule again too. My weekend was nice, visiting family and seeing a good friend of mine.

Your weekend sounds lovely, and I hope your week can be even just a bit as nice.

  17. That sounds lovely! Our baby 3 had his first birthday over the weekend so we started a new tradition of decorating for Christmas on his birthday! As I'm sure you can recall, my days are currently packed to the brim with making costumes, learning carols and lines for the nativity, writing 100 letters to Father Christmas, and fretting over how many days until the big one! Your busy but ordered week and clean and tidy house look pretty good from where I am!

  18. I'm so glad gym workouts are working well for you. I've only been exercising 3x a week because I get bored. I miss my bike. We're supposed to get my parents' elliptical so that will be an additional day to do. I have to be extra careful walking as there have been all of these pedestrian accidents in our town.
