Weekends

How was your weekend?  I hope it was filled with everything you love and lots of fun.  Yesterday, we drove to Penn State to visit our son for lunch and a tiny walk about.  I had every intention to take photos and forgot.  I'll blame it on my aging brain...

I finished the second sleeve in the car and worked on a sock.  That sock knitting was blissful because it's been sweater knitting for so long.  I welcomed the fingering weight, the red wool and teeny tiny needles.

That was the one and only photo of my daytime outing yesterday!

This morning, I squeezed in some daily writing and my daily prayers before 7:30 am Mass.  I do love seeing the sun trying to peek out from the clouds and beginning my day early.  I've done all the household chores including all the laundry.

I'm quite giddy about casting on a new project but haven't decided on what one.  I'm leaning towards a cowl for me with wool I've bought from the fiber festival last fall.  Eventually I'll be casting on a sweater for my sister but I'll fit in a few 'me' knits before that project.

The weather has been fickle with up and down temperatures.  I can't decide whether to wear lots of wool or a little bit.  A heavy coat or and light coat.  I heard we might get some flurries in a few days, yes please!

I'd love to hear about your weekend!!
can you see the deer?

  1. Sounds like a lovely weekend!
Mine was way too busy. I need a day of rest now. I went sketching, to a Bobby Burns Birthday Party, and to a play. Too much for me during the school year -- but all fun!

  2. Yes I can see the well camouflaged deer. I've been in charge of my grandson this weekend. He's 14 and 6' 1" I can't call it babysitting, more like supervising! I've also done some quilting.

  3. We had a rainy Saturday, but Sunday was warm and sunny. It was good to get out in the sun. I finished a doily, and now I don't know what to make next. But I have to watch Victoria first. I have been so amazed at all the beautiful dresses and lace collars that the women wear.

  4. My weekend has been quiet - thank goodness! My week was anything but quiet. I did get out to see The Greatest Showman, though, which was wonderful.

  5. Your car knitting looks wonderful and I am envious! I almost always drive when we go anywhere together because John has a tendency to fall asleep if he drives for any distance. It's safer, but I do lament all that knitting time I've missed. But Sunday night is time for knitting and tea, so that's what I'm headed to do.

  6. It's been a staying inside weekend from the heat - few more days to go to see if it has been the hottest January since records started in 1909. Only room room has cooling... Fans sold out around the country. I've stopped knitting. I'd love any relief - snow flurries sound fab!

  9. I love dreaming about new projects! My weekend included a hike which was just what I needed. https://chasingstories.wordpress.com/2018/01/29/weekending-6/

  10. Gosh that baby was well camouflaged!! My weekend was rather quiet....a little knitting (on a sweater! now that hasn't happened in a while!) . I watched the movie that MasonDixon recommended about James Baldwin entitled I Am Not Your Negro. Powerful. Sometimes when you live through history you are so caught up in the details you miss (or were never privy to) the big picture. I wish this had had a happy ending. Maybe someday it will.
Hope you get your predicted flurries. We're supposed to get some, too! WHEEEEE!

  11. Sounds like a great weekend! If I forget to take pictures it usually means I had a good time ;-)
We hit the beach on Saturday and stayed a bit too long (got sunburned - oops), but we had a great time, just relaxing, swimming, talking and thinking. Needed that.
On Sunday we stayed out of the sun, so I read and knit and had a good time with that too.

  12. Pretty sock! Looks like you'll be ready for Valentine's Day. As for the weather, ours has been crazy too. You have to take 2 different weight coats with you every time you leave the house. Wonder if the deer & Mr. Bear are friends. :)

  13. Looks like a nice weekend! Your deer is so well hidden!!

  14. We spent it back home with family and friends, and watching the Diva Girl's husky puppy. Such a ball of energy! Then finished it off with a meal at the local Rathskellar. Mmmm potato pancakes! Pork chops with apple, raisin and walnut sauce. APPLE STRUDEL!!! They had to roll me out.

  15. You have good eyes to be able to spot that deer. You do so much before I ever get my day going, even though I'm an early riser. Happy Monday, Karen.

  16. I can see the deer! but mostly, I LOVE the spots of light and sunshine. We finally saw the sun yesterday and today promises more blue skies ... makes me feel lighter and brighter, too! Happy Tuesday!

  17. We were very busy at the barn on Saturday. Then home to rest and tuck ourselves in. We took a walk on Sunday and man it was cold out. Lots of folks walking out on the ice on Geneva Lake. Ice sailboats and ice fisherman.

  18. Sounds like an excellent weekend to me! I have been struggling to take photos when the family is all together these days. This weekend my sister and I took our families over to my Dad and Stepmother's and I played Cornhole with the boys and then they were on their devices. We hung out in the kitchen as my Stepmother tried out some newish recipes. Our husbands chatted with my Dad as they watched basketball. It was such a marvelous time but I didn't take a single photo. I like to think we were truly enjoying life and those photos are just stronger memories uninterrupted by extra clicks. On the other hand ... next time! Wishing you a good week.

  20. Oh it all sounds so heavenly, Karen. My weekend flew by in a whirl. Dyed some yarn--both pretty and ugly. Still learning. Can't wait for next weekend!!!
