Tributary Yarns Review and Giveaway

Andrea from This Knitted Life has been dyeing up some beautiful yarns for her new shop called Tributary Yarns.  I've known Andrea for quite some time and have test knitted for her in the past.  She is a thoughtful, thorough and dedicated knitter and now indie dyer.  How cool is that?

Her shop had a grand opening a week or so ago and Andrea has been busy filling orders and dyeing more yarn to restock. From the looks of it, Andrea is off to a successful business.   Her story about Tributary Yarns can be found here, here and here.

I've had the pleasure to be testing out two of her yarn bases, am I not a lucky knitter?

The river silk merino blend that is a single ply that is 70% superwash merino wool and 30% silk in the lovely colorway  'Dusk at Elk River'.  This decadent wool silk blend is shimmery and the depth of color is simply stunning.  The stitch definition is soft and defined  - I'm currently knitting a shawl for me.

The next skein is her watershed worsted base in a muted green colorway titled 'Fern Canyon'.  This worsted wool is oh so springy!  The base is a 3 ply 100% sustainable rambouillet wool.  The wool has a soft hand and glides over knitting needles effortlessly while giving a crisp stitch definition.  I'm making a hat, again, for me.

Onto the giveaway!

Andrea is generously giving one lucky winner a coupon code for $25 in her shop.  To have a chance to win you must:

-comment on this post on what colorway you like best after visiting her shop

-have a valid email attached to your profile OR give me your ravelry user name when you comment

This contest is opened until next Tuesday (March 20th).  I'll announce the winner on Wednesday, March 21.  Good luck!!

  1. How cool that you know her! I have followed her blog for a while. I was gonna say that I really liked Anna's Art Studio (and I do), but then I saw Humboldt Fog and that is the winner for me! I am thekittyknitter on Ravelry.

  2. That's a hard choice -- she has so many pretty colors! I think at this particular moment, it would be the Kimtu, because that blue reminds me of spring/summer skies.

(I am sprite on Ravelry, too.)

Thank you for the fellow parent commiseration. I have Mama's Guilt when my babies are hurting or suffering in some way. I'm trying to keep healthy; I've been dragging myself up by the bootstraps to get exercising now that my toe's better.

  20. I've been following Andrea's blog/journey for a while and all along, I've lusted over the green colorways she's been dying.... then I go take a look at her shop and... it turns out Big Rock in the River Silk line is my favorite. For today at least. :) I've been on a self imposed yarn diet for a while so I've been avoiding looking too closely at Andrea's shop but I started back to work this past weekend and throughout the yarn diet, I'd promised myself that my first paycheck of the season would go towards a giant yarn purchase. I can't wait! My Ravelry name is jeanniegrayknits.

  21. There are too many lucious yarns to choose! I love the Buttercup (good yellows are hard to find), the vibrant Marigold makes summer feel too far away & that Hollyhock....😀
    Well done, Andrea!
