New Year

Good morning! How are you? Happy New Year, may this year be full of blessings to all of you. Well now, I finally have an empty home after having our son, daughter in law, grandson and granddaughter here for six nights.

I am still experiencing fatigue and symptoms from the virus even though I am feeling better. It was a challenge hosting family while recovering. Also we babysat the kids overnight (!!) while my son and daughter in law went for little getaway. I am thankful and grateful my Aunt came over both days to help out with the granddaughter who never sleeps during the day. (snack-naps do not count!).

They all left early in the morning, and while I was tired, sleep deprived and fatigued, I put away Christmas plus all the toys and doodads you need for babies.

Today I am looking at a squeaky clean house. I am planning on reading books and falling asleep while doing so! My exercise routine is on hold as I slowly get better. Maybe next week I can muster up some energy for some yoga and a walk.

Happy New Year!!

  1. It's lovely to see family and also lovely when they go home! You were quite smart to put all the Christmas things away. I'm sitting here looking at mine, and even though there isn't much, I'm still wishing they would put themselves away!

  2. Happy New Year, Karen. I've thought of you (and prayed) several times last week, wondering how you were doing with having your son's family there so soon after you being ill. Prayers will continue for your restored health and energy levels. I love it that you are planning to fall asleep while reading books! It's my favorite way to fall asleep. Take care, friend. xx

  3. We did a massive "put back together" of our house when our son left to go back home. He was here 8 days. I still have some leftover laundry to do today, but most everything else is scrubbed, put back in place and ready to face the new year.

  5. Happy New Year. Glad you are recovering (though I wish it were faster!!). I'm sure you are already missing the grandchildren and children even though it was good to see them go. Rest up and take care...get better!!

  6. Happy New Year! I can so relate. Our Chicago daughter and family, including 2 teenage boys with hollow legs, left here last Wednesday after a week, and then our other daughter just got back from several weeks in Vietnam and aren't up to seeing anyone yet, especially since school starts for the 2 kids tomorrow. So our Christmas stuff won't be gone until next weekend after we celebrate the holiday and 3 birthdays!

  11. I hope a week of rest does you a world of good. Sometimes one just needs to let the chores go and rest. I imagine you enjoyed having your family but it does take awhile to put the house back together. You managed in record time. New Year's Day, I put all the decor away and today I dusted and cleaned. I used to be able to get it all done in one day but that ship has sailed. Happy New Year.
